Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?
One of the reasons some high end manufacturers don't offer bi-wiring/biamping capability is because it means that those who don't use the facility end up having to use jumpers to connect the two sets of speaker terminals. Bi-wiring/amping introdu...
Nuclues plus bricked
The Nucleus is a pretty cheap and not particularly high quality computer. For the price of a Nucleus Plus you can build a quiet Windows machine with a much better power supply and space for more storage, quality network and usb cards etc. Regardin...
Warranty repair wait times - serious industry problem??
Eight to twelve weeks is not that long. The service centre has to receive the amp, put it in line, evaluate it, possibly order parts, repair it and ship it back.
Product: Sonus Faber Concertino Domus Bookshelf Speakers; w/ Stands
@OP Harbeth and Spendor tend to fit that bill well - musical, neutral and not amplifier fussy. US prices are dearer than europe so basically anything from the Spendor Classic line or the Harbeth P3 or M30. The P3 is bigger sounding than its size s...
Cool feature on Pass X260.8 Mono Amps
The XA 60.8s has these adjusters as well.
Upgrade my older Linn Sondek or move on?
@OP, I've been delayed in posting on this topic due to ID verification issues which, self evidently, are now sorted. In answer to your opening post, it makes no economic sense to upgrade an LP 12 from the early eighties on the budget you are plan...
Really Long XLR
Following on from the previous post, Transparent cable is quite good value in longer runs relative to a lot of quality audio cables. They can be even better value pre-owned as there is a small enough market for long interconnects.
Am I broken? Am I stuck? Do I have to return my audiophile card now?
@wolf_garcia - what is the relevance of comparing a Wilson speaker to a Collings guitar. They are completely separate things. There's a lot more complexity in my Apple computer than either - so what?
How much hum is normal from a new tube amp
It's down to the electromechanics of the transformer.  These things can be a bit elusive in that the amp might hum less in another installation. But it's still indicative of less than perfect design and manufacturing.
And Awaaay We Go!
It's good to have an overview of reviewers' rooms and equipment. There isn't enough of it.
Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?
My audio experience is not especially based on my system so its not relevant to my posts. There are legitimate personal privacy reasons also for people not posting their systems.
Pls help me decide Pass Labs X250.8 or Luxman M900u
@OP Late reply as I am no on USA time. Just two final comments - once the specs don't show any red flags - listen! Secondly, I wouldn't get hung up on technologies and suggest that you also listen to a comparably priced Passlabs preamp before ma...
Pls help me decide Pass Labs X250.8 or Luxman M900u
@OP  - audphile1 makes a very important point - it is critical to listen to the pre power combination, even moreso if a tube pre is being contemplated.
Pls help me decide Pass Labs X250.8 or Luxman M900u
OP - I also agree with ghdprentice. One particular point of difference ref. mtdining - Pass amps are very refined in the top end, which some may interpret as "a lack of high end". Unamplified acoustic music has an apparent lack of top end compared...
Pls help me decide Pass Labs X250.8 or Luxman M900u
The 803D4 has a couple of tough dips in its modulus of impedance but nothing that Pass X250.8s can't handle.
