Harbeth P3ESR vs the new XD Harbeth is no different from any other audio manufacturer. Vandersteen, Spendor, B&W, Audio-Research, etc., etc., always have an improved version in their product line. BTW, Harbeth does use the word ground-breaking in their new speaker line u...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? @gochurchgo " I think my system sounds better than it has any right to considering it’s all mid-fi stuff. " You should try the SYS in-between the phono preamp and the preamp. Why do you consider your gear Mid-Fi?
Mo-fi Ultradeck owners - popping noise from speaker upon power off @dandaroyI had the same problem with my VPI HW-19. The capacitor between the switch and the motor was the culprit. The Mo-Fi deck that you have uses the same Hurst motor as the VPI. That loud pop could damage your tweeters! This is the motor!http:/...
Harbeth P3ESR vs the new XD @kw6 Mine never changed. I sold them and located a new pair of the original ones. There are some dealers that have the original ones but they are only in black!
Harbeth P3ESR vs the new XD @ kw6 I am pretty sure that the new XD is the same speaker as the 40th anniversary limited edition. I have owned both and found the 40th a brighter sounding speaker. I sold the 40th and went back to the original model. Your dealer is correct. Here ...

Thoughts on vintage Accuphase @ arafiq Many moons ago I owned both the C200 and the P300. Not my cup of tea. Don’t forget that those are close to 50 years old. I think you are better off spending your greenbacks on something brand new! BTW, I own those Harbeths!

Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? @gochurchgoYes! The gain was too much with the cartridge that I use so I swapped to a lower gain tube in the phono preamp!
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? @gochuchgoI have lowered the gain on my phono preamp swapping the 12AX7 with a 12AU7. You might see if you can do the same with the QS line stage! 12AX7 gain of 10012AT7 gain of 6012AY7 gain of 4512AU7 gain of 19
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? @aj523 Tube Depot is fine!Google is your friend! Here ya go!As tubes wear, some problems can come up. One of the most common symptoms is a ringing sound. This is usually due to the tube becoming microphonic. Like its name suggests, a microphoni...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? @gochurchgo The tubes that I have been using are grey plate solid O getters!
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? I have that same preamp. I like vintage Ge 12ax7WA/6201 tubes. You should be able to get a matched pair from any reputable seller on ebay for less than 50 bucks! The GE JG-12AT7WA vintage tube is a rugged, American-made workhorse produced for the...
Tube question The phono section in the CMII is solid state. So you are utilizing the rolled tubes in the preamp section! |
