Cartridge (other than Rega) with Rega RP10
Where I am the 17Dx and Rega Apheta 3 are the same price and the Delos is cheaper than both. The 17D3 used to undercut the Delos but the change to the brass bodied Dx came with a hefty price increase. The Rega will have a good chance of correct VTA...
SME 20/3 --- tonearm recommendations!?
The Koetsu has a compliance of 5 @100Hz,an 18g EM tonearm shouldn't be too far out.
Review: Naim Uniti Atom vs Tube Separates/Chord Digital System
It would be interesting to hear what you make of the Atom with it's supplied power cable against the one from Transparent.
MC cartridge loading: still baffled
Using a DV 17D2 in a Rega RB300 with the AS set to match the VTF resulted in an offset and twisted cantilever after probably a bit too much use. I then got a copy of a record called “the enjoyment of stereo” in a job lot of classical records I was...
MC cartridge mini-shootout: SPU, Koetsu, FR, Ikeda
Mine was the first version so no diamond cantilever, it was £2899 when bought new and I love it. There’s no more Transfiguration from what I can gather from Fraimer’s site so third party retips are the only way to keep it going.I have an SPU Royal...

So based on that how would you replace a Proteus?
Best high end active monitors at around 6000-9000 EUR a pair
ATC spring to mind but their domestic speakers have a reputation for needing to be played loud to come alive, presumably their pro speakers are much the same. Both are available active.
Phono Preamps with "balls" ?
“" Any Naim phono stage would get you solid sound with great PRAT and rhythm. ..'I just ordered one of those cheap Naim replicas that are in ebay.Wish me luck.“you’re going to need it, the real ones don’t come with a power supply so presumably the...
Playing mono records properly without breaking the bank - a phono pre-amp question.
Some mono records were made to be playable with  a stereo pickup but the earlier they are the less likely this will be the case and those that weren’t have a sound like frying eggs in the background, a mono switch (mine’s on the pre) will get rid ...
Most annoying song, period.
The Birdie Song by The Tweets was pretty irritating but there is rather a lot of competition. John Cage's 4 minutes 33 seconds is annoying by its very existance.
Linn LP12 I channel louder?
I had a 17D2 do that after using it for too long with the bias set incorrectly, I was trusting the bias scale on a Rega 300 arm. When I looked with a loup the cantilever was slightly twisted along its length and offset to one side a little, that w...
Why does my old CD player sound so much better than my new streamer?
Nostalgia is vinyl not CD, CD never lived up to the hype, ever.
Why does my old CD player sound so much better than my new streamer?
You’ve had the advice of a Lunpizator dealer, did you manage to try his recommendations to any advantage? If you’re still getting nowhere can you get a loan of one of the latest Naim streamers? I have one and haven’t played a CD in months and thoug...
Goldring - Audio Note - Roksan ?
What is the input impedance of your power amp? Is it more likely it's an impedance matching problem if you're finding a passive resistor pre isn't doing the trick maybe a TVC will (an autoformer type will be more even handed if what Max Townshend ...
Tonearm/Cartridge Combinations: What Do You Own (Or Have Owned) And Recommend?
Lets see,Rega RB300 with Goldring Eroica L (long since discontinued in favour of the LX). My first MC and I loved it but I changed the deck from a Manticore mantra to a Townshend Rock mk2 and bent the cantilever fairly soon after. Next up was a Dy...
