Tannoy Legacy Eaton with Primaluna EVO 300 Integrated
Close? I own the Eaton's bigger brother (Arden) and am powering them with an EVO 300 power amp (Gold Lion KT-88s or Tung-Sol KT-150s). I didn't care much for the stock PL EL34s which are now running in my VTA ST-70 where I care less about critical...
Yamaha CD S1000 or S2100 as transport
@output555 , I own the s2100 and concur with blisshifi's assessment. The s2100 has a build quality well beyond their standard big box store units. I use the native output for any 2-channel SACD playback and a Holo Audio May DAC for any redbook pl...
Tannoy Legacy vs Prestige whats the difference?
The lack of response is likely due to not many having heard the Legacy line given its shorter run (in Legacy guise) than the Prestige line.  I own the Legacy Arden if you have any questions I can help with, but I have not heard any of the Prestig...
PrimaLuna EVO 300
Coincidentally, I own the Evo 300 power amp, REL 212/se and the Cornwall's British cousin (Tannoy Legacy Arden). I tried both the RCA connection from my McIntosh c2300 preamp, and the line level connection from the Evo 300. While I did notice the...
Sub Confusion
As mentioned, the 212/sx is designed to run in tandem with your main speakers (no high pass). Generally, stereo subs would be preferable. That said, i have a single 212/se in my system and don't want for anything below 80hz, so there is always mo...
MoFi controversy
Well said @sns.  Perhaps we'll all look back on this "outing" as the start of the end of the analog / digital argument. One can obviously sound as good as the other.
Prima Luna evo300 owners
I'd say the biggest weakness for me has been tube related...specifically the KT-150s which in my case half of all have gone noisy within the span of a few months. It seems design and quality control is a problem with this tube. They sound great if...
Prima Luna evo300 owners
@thecarpathian , I have the Evo 300 power amp and use NOS Tung-Sol black glass 12au7s for the center positions, and a quad of NOS RCA cleartops for the other 4 positions. I also tried my NOS Mullards in the center and there wasn't much of a differ...
Speakers need to be placed close to back wall. Help
Larsen 4 or 6 should be within your 4k budget and they are designed to be placed within an inch or two of the front wall.  Www.larsenhifi.com
No love for Tannoy Definition subs
I'm not doubting you @hickamore but I thought the Definition subs were equipped with dual 12" drivers not 15" as mentioned. If the dual 12" model retailed for over $7k, I'd assume the dual 15" model would cost even more. ($9k?) At that price you'...
Class D Integrated Amplifier Recommendations.
I've not heard it (most haven't) but the forthcoming Rose RA180 looks interesting in the GAN class D category. I realize the looks can be polarizing, and evil tone controls, but it looks to be an extremely flexible unit.
How much faster of a sub is the REL T5X vs SVS SB12-NSD
I've owned one (and then two) SVS SB12+ which were a step up in quality from the NSD. They were nice subs but I ultimately required more headroom when I was building a system in my main system (large, open floor plan with no way to pressurize the ...
Anybody watch Steve Huff audio on the Tube?
Yes, it's indicative of the industry and influencing others to chase the next best  thing. At least Steve is not...air quotes "manufacturing" a re-badged Doge Integrated and selling it like it's something new to the world while still maintaining ...
Domain Trades for High end Audio Gear
Seeing as domains are relatively cheap to obtain, and high end audio is not, it seems like you're investing in a strange area. I'd guess that Snell XA references would still cost $12-15,000 on the used market, that's 240 -300 domains at a generou...
Fyne Audio - New Speakers Displayed in Munich
Sued on what grounds? Dual concentric drivers or walnut veneers?
