Best Universal Player as transport for under $500? Haven't tried Integra, but I have the Oppo 103 and it's great. And ... for those of us who shy away from used electronics, I don't think it can be beat. "Under" $500 by a buck.
What brand is most recognized by non-audiophiles? Interesting responses. Some of them are a reminder to me that some brands recognized by the public at large (i.e., Marantz) make some really good and well reviewed stuff. I won't pay for an audiophile "brand" without at least checking those other ...
Calling all Horn lovers Shakey ... not sure which version. I plan on calling Bob and picking his brain on the merits of each 3 way version. Thanks again for sharing. Chuck
Calling all Horn lovers Shakey - Thanks!! I gotta assume that the C version also does well with the initial reason for the Cornscala - the expanded midrange of the Lascala paired with the deeper bass of the Cornwall. (All versions should do that). Will check out the C ve...
Calling all Horn lovers Shakeydeal, our speaker preferences are similar. If I could ask, why did you pick Bob's C model Cornscala rather than one of the other models? I'm thinking of replacing my Cornwall III's with one of his other offerings. Would appreciate your thoug...
Integrated Amp for Klipsch RF-7II Marantz and Klipsch are always a good combo and should be considered. The PM8004 would get you in under budget. I am presently running Parasound separates with Cornwall III's and very pleased. You should be able to get into them for about (maybe l...
Best sounding Hybrid Integrated in $2000 range You gotta try out the offerings from Vincent. They have a hybrid integrated in your price range that I auditioned a few years ago. I wound up going in another direction, but would have been happy with Vincent.
Klipsch Cornwall III Klipsch does a poor job of placing their better speakers in the hands of dealers. Hope you find a place to audition them. For what it's worth, I have CW III's in my 2 channel system and love them. Probably would like the La Scala midrange better, ...
Best of Both Worlds, Hybrid Amps . Check out the Vincent hybrids. I auditioned one of their integrated hybrids in the past year or so and was quite impressed. I believe the power rating was 150w. Good reviews too. Cheers!
Need suggestions replacing my receiver In the past few months I got rid of my Denon receiver and replaced it with the Marantz AV7005 and MM7055. Based on a recent price reduction on the 7005, this may be close enough to your budget. I didn't know what I was missing and don't think I'll...
Klipsch Cornwall III with Bryston 4B SST2 / BP17 ? I agree with Elevick. I power my III's with Parasound SS and like the results very much. I bought it after an A-B comparison with a very good tube amp. I'm also a musician who loves accuracy and the sound of "live" music. To each his own, but to m...
Need advice on building an A/V system Probably can't address all your questions, but I've recent experience from revamping my HT system. For me at least, a separate DAC seemed unnecessary given Oppo's highly touted units (I got the 103 and your 105 should be even better). I switched f...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer? I realize this is very subjective, but like most of the other musicians I know, my preference is that which sounds most like a live performance. That sound seldom seems to come with speakers (or electronics) which produce a "warm" sound, including...
Best Rock Song Of ALL TIME? Depends on weather you're talkin' good ol' rock n' roll or "rock". Us old farts know the diff. If it's the former, I'd go with Johnny Be Good or several other Chuck Berry tunes. Maybe even some early Stones. No ear bleeders.
Vincent Integrated vs Pre/amp seperates I auditioned both the integrated and separates some time back and (by a fairly narrow margin) preferred the integrated. Although I ultimately purchased Parasound separates, either of the Vincent offerings would have worked out well, again with a s... |
