Velodyne DD10 vs DD12 Typically larger drivers will go lower in frequency even if only by a couple of hertz with the same manufacturer. I have a Rel B3 with a 10" driver and 200w. I do have 1 song the sub seems to fall apart with and sound flubby. I've had the sub for ...
Best rock/jazz speaker under $10k used If your room can handle them I just LOVE the Dynaudio C4's. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1290269800&/Dynaudio-Confidence-C4-Or if there is a Dynaudio dealer near by check out the Contour 5.4's.That's my opinion
Dynaudio C1, why so expensive? Bigbucks5You are 100% correct regarding the baffle. I had that confirmed by Dynaudio. I lost my video and from I remembered I though it was aluminum. I'll stop relying on my memory in the future.
tube watts vs transistor watts? Musicnoise If I half the voltage that would double the current to get the same watts. If a speaker works better with higher current then it would be beneficial. Not all speaker will benefit from high current though. That's what I am trying to say.
tube watts vs transistor watts? This is good question. Until 2 weeks ago I would have said the same as Tvad and Grinnell. But it may be more than that. I just traded my Bryston B100 rated at 100w 8ohm and 180w 4ohm for an Octave V70se rated at 70w 4ohms (can't find an 8ohm ratin...
Tube amp, more low end I did mention that I only listened to the EL34's for about 5 hrs and put the KT88's back in. I did that because when I was auditioning a demo Octave I only had 3 days and 3 sets of tubes (EL34's - KT88's and 6550's). BTW the tubes belong to Dynaud...
Tube newbee question Thanks for the Info Rrog. I got my replacement last night and it glows just like the other 3. Octave protection is great. Just got a demo Octave 'black box' which increases the capacitance 4 fold to about 60,000uf. Helps in all ways. Control - pow...
Tube amp, more low end I just got an Octave V70Se with kt88's and there is is a ton of bass. Almost too much. I have some EL34's but only listened for about 5 hrs and put the kt88's back in. I'm driving Dynaudio C1's at 85db - 4ohm. Great match up
"You can't handle -- The Yanni at Mandelay " I have the non blu ray version. Great music video. Unfortunately the audio out from my dvd player isn't that great but acceptable.
Tube newbee question I live in a suburb of Chicago. My speakers are Dynaudio C1's. Funny you mention the black box. I've asked my Octave/dyn dealer to set me up with a black box demo. I read avsforum and Mick from Dynaudio recommends the black box for the C1's and sup...
Tube newbee question Yes I am getting a replacement.
Rega Apollo or Saturn upgrade fr: Meridian 598? Personally I think the saturn is a bit dry sounding. I ended up with the meridian G08. At the same time I auditioned the Esoteric sa-10 and was a little too sterile sounding but a tad better than the saturn.Just my opinion
Tube newbee question Thanks GriffithdsI'll keep them in mind. Hoping Octave will replace it. I did just buy the V70se and 2 additional quad sets of tubes.
Tube newbee question NewbeeThanks for the response. I'm interested if 1 glows more than the others it a possible problem? Octave offers an option called the black box that increases the capacitance 4 fold and a super black box that increases it by 10 fold. Do you thin...
Dynaudio C1, why so expensive? I have the speakers and it is aluminum. |
