Records of the Year 2003 I'll go with the Steely Dan. They seem to have a handle on the times. I'm not sure why so many feel this is better than Two Against Nature, as that album had some real gems IMHO.
What's in your record cleaning machine???? Dopogue: know what you mean, just where does all the fluid go? it rarely if ever puddles out on the bottom tray. I've got a Nitty Gritty 2.5fi I think, with the oak sides. broke the center spindle, had to buy a kit to fix it, still going strong af...
New to Vinyl, TT suggestions please Rega P-3 is the standard.. also because it comes with the Rega arm, which is a great arm. I've never used them but I hear great things about the Rega cartridges too. I had a Rega P-3 for years that I kept modifying (maybe 15 yrs of so) until last ...
"The Yes Album" Remasters As a big Yes fan, I can only recommend the ORIGINAL LP pressings from England.. they are better than U.S., Japan or Germany. The U.S. pressings suck with the exception of Yessongs. I know you guys are talking cd's, just thought I'd add my 2 cents ...
What is your price range for used vinyl? IF you can find a good used record store, vinyl will be cheaper than buying over ebay. I've bought around 90 or so albums on ebay because of where I live now (in Georgia) and you end up paying that extra $10 or so for shipping from England or Japa...
Amp question... Forte 4a or B&K ST140 Interesting question of amps.. I have a Forte 1a I used with several different speakers over a 12 yr period, I have heard the B&K st140 and personally I much prefer the sound of the Forte 1a over the B&K. The B&K is really warm/glowing...
Parametric EQ for Mid-bass Hump? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, Rane is more of a pro-sound (sound reinforcement/PA equipment) type of company and I think adding this type of unit may flatten eq curve you're experiencing at the expense of the immediacy, freshness, dynamics, air...

Horns vs. single drivers You had better actually listen to some Lowtbers first, some say they are the best in the world, others don't care for them. Very distinctive sound

Best Joni Mitchel Album I have a thing about playing Hejira, I play it during the first snowfall of the year. Somehow seems appropriate. I have the Nautilus "Court and Spark" also my favorite. Hejira and Court and Spart are my two favorites. I have a Japanese pressing of...
New Damper material What I do is stuff raw hamburger into triangular shaped pillows and tack them into my corners to dampen standing waves and unwanted reinforcements. The effect lessens over time as the mice carry off the hamburger night by night.
Anyone do mods to the Energy C8 speakers. I would NOT fool around with trying to swap out tweeters.. I have tried this with some old 70's speakers with poor integration/timbre/voicing of the sound on the whole type results. Much better idea to audition different cables, cardas for example. |
