Converting FLAC Files dBpoweramp and XLD are perhaps the most popular. XLD is free. Convert your files to aiff or alac. Keep in mind if you choose wav it doesn't support metadata like other formats. The age-old wav vs flac debate has been raging for years now with stron...
Ever Bought an Audio Product that was Stupid Good for the Money? More "stupid good" Schiit .. the Loki Mini for $149.
Bluesound Node 2 as a preamp? I go direct with great results as well, however, I also think it's system dependent. For me the Node 2 has worked well as a preamp of sorts. I've used it this way with several amps, all without issue. In fact, I just took delivery of a Decware SE8...
Should I re-rip? dBpoweramp also has a setting for "uncompressed" (not "0" compression) flac, which is basically, as I understand it, a wav file with great metadata. So, no need to worry about the effects of the unpacking. Sounds identical to wav/aiff to me.
Where do I start-amp or speakers ? I think it's a good idea to get the speakers sorted out first. Say, for example, you find a nice efficient speaker which needs only a few wpc to make them sing (i.e. Zu, Tekton, Omega) - this gives you amp options which would never work with power...
Which Budget Speakers, Tekton or Omega? While I've not heard any of the Tekton loudspeakers I have lived with my Omega Super 3i's for just over a year. They, of course, have the RS5 driver and while I could live with them without subs, they are far better with the 2 Ohm subs I have (I u...
Integrateds: Why do they all SUCK? The OP does the same over at Computer Audio as well. He has excellent click-bait skills: https://www.computeraudiophile.com/forums/topic/38458-electrostat-speakers-trash/http://
Chromecast and external DAC @kalali .. glad you like the little gizmo, it's very cool tech. It's pretty close in sound quality compared to my Node 2 when using the Bifrost Multibit. In fact, I'm not sure I have a clear preference. The CA can also be used via analog-in into t...
Chromecast and external DAC I've used mine with a Bifrost Multibit and it sounds great. The CA is an audiophile bargain IMO. I use a nice glass fiber Lifatec Mini Toslink/Toslink cable:http://www.lifatec.com/toslink2.html
Audiophile Setup with an Iphone 7 I use an iPhone 6 (or iPad Air) in this configuration with great results:iPhone 6 ➟ Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Adapter ➟ UpTone Audio USB REGEN ➟ dB Audio Labs Tranquility DAC ➟ etc.The DAC in the iPhone is bypassed with the Adapter. The REGEN doe...
Surge Protector - Brick Wall/Zero Surge vs SurgeX Thread resurrection! I've used the Brick Wall for a dozen years or so and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another if need be.
RadioParadise streaming FLAC I love Radio Paradise and listen daily. Bluesound issued an update recently to take advantage of the new flac stream and it sounds great using my Node 2. Sounds good on mobile as well.
high-efficiency loudspeakers I'm very happy with my single-driver Omega Super 3i Monitors. Fantastic speakers at their price-point. Efficiency is 94.5 dB at 8 ohms and they're mated right now with an inexpensive Chi-fi (3.5 wpc) SET integrated. A Decware SE84UFO (2 wpc) is in...
What music or equipment gifts did you get for Christmas this year? Present to self .. Decware SE84UFO. It will be a while before it's built and delivered but I'm excited. Should prove to be a nice match with my Omega Super 3i's.
Sub Integration ICBM manual suggests setting the crossover on the subs to their highest setting and then select the actual crossover point on the ICBM. I assume this is the correct way to incorporate the unit with the subs? Exactly. I also set the volume on the s... |
