Where is my digital problem: taste, vinyl v. digital, DAC, realities, etc? I have a preference for R-2R/multibit designs for the reason Mapman mentioned (musical, easy on the ears). I'm very happy with my recently purchased MHDT Lab Pagoda. FWIW, I also have a Schitt Bifrost Multibit, dB Audio Labs Tranquility, and Chord...
Blue Node 2 ... ??? @three_easy_payments .. Bluesound has stated the 2i uses the same DAC chip as in the 2. If you care about Bluetooth it's been upgraded to aptX HD. Otherwise, it seems AirPlay integration was the impetus for this hardware refresh. As I don't care a...
Many seem to be talking about their last system . I’ve thought a lot about this in the past couple of years (turning 60 was sobering to say the least). I’m now 61 and am indeed interested in the end game. I think @rar1 nailed it with this: There are folks, like myself, who are in their 60's and l...
Blue Node 2 ... ??? Bluesound has managed to create a terrific platform that is also easy on the wallet. I’ve had my Node 2 for 2.5 years and I can honestly say I’m still very happy with my choice. It’s versatile, sounds good (even better feeding a nice DAC), and is ...
Can you live with your current speaker until you die? I think I'll be very happy going into my latter years with my current speakers. My very modest system suits me perfectly. Of course, that's a bit easier to say with 3 pairs of speakers in storage to swap in/out when the mood strikes.
Underrated album: Sonics AND Music @n80 .. you make some very good points. I doubt very much that Steely Dan is on the millennial radar. I'm sure the same would hold true with most of the music I'm interested in and vice-versa. Different generations with different tastes and exposu...
Underrated album: Sonics AND Music Steely Dan "Two Against Nature"+1 .. fantastic record. While it wasn't their most popular it did win 4 Grammy's including Album of the Year and Best Engineered Recording (non-classical). It's also been certified platinum.
I pulled the trigger, I bought OHM Walsh Micro Tall Speakers... Wonderful. I used them for years and still have them (purchased in 2004). I've been on the merry-go-round more than I care to admit and am now in the SET/high-efficiency speaker camp, but I still drag the Ohms out of storage on a regular basis. Th...
Have DAC’s improved for Redbook CD playback? And that an just ok one, imagine what a PCM1704 based one or even the new discrete ones are like. Love my MHDT Lab Pagoda!
Optical digital cables? Good choice. I have both the Lifatec and the Blue Jeans cables. Not only does the Lifatec sound better but it will also pass a 24/192 signal, unlike the Blue Jeans which tops out at 24/96.
I pulled the trigger, I bought OHM Walsh Micro Tall Speakers... I think the Primaluna is definitely worth a shot. When I first got my MicroWalsh Talls I ran them with a 25 wpc ss/tube hybrid. I could get the amp to clip if I pushed it hard enough, but it was only when listening louder than I normally do. Depen...
I pulled the trigger, I bought OHM Walsh Micro Tall Speakers... There are quite a few of us actually. Have you seen this thread going back 10 years? https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/ohm-walsh-micro-talls-who-s-actually-heard-em
Two Against Nature-What is your reference recording? Funny, I just got a new subwoofer a couple of days ago and Two Against Nature was one of the albums I played to evaluate. I was entranced. I didn't love this album when it was first released but over time I came to enjoy it immensely. I also liste...
Popular DAC that is known for its warm-ish sound? In the under $1000 category .. Schiit Bifrost Multibit.
