Most beautiful turntable under $5k Another vote for the Oracle Delphi, and I like the rather stark look of my VPI TNT 5. Recently wanted a turntable for my third system and didn't really want a run of the mill appearance. Ended up with one of these - look like a sculpture in plex...
No more "High End" for me...Back to Reality Audio The main problem people seem to have with the pursuit of good sound is when to stop. Many do find a happy level that satisfies them and stop buying gear, but many others seem driven to continue obsessing and spending money endlessly. I am a type...
Hegel H390/H590 with Wilson Audio Sabrina X The 390 should have tons of power for your speakers. The Sabrina X are lower sensitivity than many Wilsons but those amps have lots of grunt. (I drive a larger much heavier Wilson with only 70 watts).
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp? There are lots of possible tube to use. My favourite preamp uses 6GK5s.

Do you want to give your insurance company an excuse not to pay you if your equipment starts a fire, albeit a small chance ? I agree in principal but disagree on the last bit. It isn't a small chance that the insurance would be invalidated it i...

Advice needed on MC cartridges I've listened to the Hana quite a bit in a friend's system and that is a good suggestion. I recently picked up a third turntable and part of the package was a MC pickup - a Goldring Eroica LX (low output) that I had planned to swap out for someth...
Affordable vs. ultra expensive speakers - what's the difference? With more money spent on speakers you should get better more rigid enclosures, higher priced more accurate drivers and usually (but sadly not always) a well though out design. You will gain clarity in the top range and control in the bottom end, ...
Is High End Audio catchin' up with you all? The Hayabusa is a very expensive very neat engine, but there are many lesser modern engines that work well in street cars. My daily driver has a 2.0 4 cylinder The sound they make isn't as nice, but it puts out 375 bhp and 375 Tq and gets 30 mpg ...
Is High End Audio catchin' up with you all? It is actually a 1956 MGA under the skin with a GM V6 I transplanted into it and a body by Fiberfab called a Jamaican made in the 1960s.. It is another hobby of mine.
Is High End Audio catchin' up with you all? Well this thread took an unlikely turn - didn't expect to see cars as a subject of discussion. Best sound comes from a V12 (I miss my old Lamborghini!), next best from a straight six (sold my MGC but still have a BMW Z4MC), and after that maybe t...
