the sound of massed violins in classical orchestral recordings
I have A LOT of digital and analog orchestral recordings. Many of violin concertos. No idea what you’re talking about. I always eat smooth resolved playback. Even from vinyl records.Probably your magnapans. ESLs do have distortion.
Length of speaker cables
I switched to 0000 AWG welding cables. Biggest improvement for $$ spent I’ve ever had!! Not even rebuilding my entire listening room resulted in such a night and day difference!! Made from 36 AWG strands, in an 8-fold double helix within a helix c...
Old vs New, an experience with Dynaudio.
I have a bunch of NIB Dynaudio drivers from 1986-1991, back when they sold individual drivers, and I still had my business. 22 pairs of various tweeters, 32 mids, 24 various woofers. Very fine drivers. Time to start designing and building. I’ve be...
“Insides” of tubes
I only get the laser trimmed tubes. Sonically superior to all others. Made by hand in Estonia.
There's gold in them frequencies!
I’m sitting outside, on my back patio. I have my speakers here, my RF remote, enjoying great music!Natural dither. Birds, hummingbirds, my dog barking, neighbor’s kids dribbling a basketball. But the most transforming frequencies, by far, are the ...
Options for ridding records of static electricity
@slaw “Now, since the crazy guy from My Pillow is out there endorcing Trump's prophecy, I'm ashamed.”A highly inflammatory political/religious slur. Not cool. Not professional.
Soundstage gone
From what I read, OP has no phono equalization. Going from cartridge into MC gain stage, then into line level. Totally bypassing the necessary RIAA equalization stage. Yea, that would sound exactly as he describes!
"Bridge Over Trouble Water" sounds artificial
I have original vinyl recordings of S&G. Bridge Over Troubled Waters is an excellent recording and mix, as it was originally mastered by Columbia. No idea what the OP is listening to, what mix or who mastered it.
Game Changing Tweak
@terry9 What more do I want?Well, let’s discuss this.pwerhera used a few equations to INTRODUCE a concept. He didn’t explain it, nor explain how this product is supposed to make audible improvements. So, let me introduce another equation:E = mC2Now...
Game Changing Tweak
Pwerahera is using technical talk to discuss a very simple concept.its called Power Factor Correction, or PFC.Most residences share a common transformer. The power delivered on the power lines is 3 phase. The outputs from the 3-phase transformers ...

MP150 or MP200
Nags are WAY overpriced for what you get, AND what you hear. You need to expand your horizons. For THAT kind of money, you can select many vintage carts and original styli (multiple!) that will absolutely TROUNCE the Nags, ALL of them!
Why are there so many wooden speakers?
@kenjit My next speaker enclosures are being cut as we speak.Made from some of the most homogeneous and even-grained materials on earth!Im using cut and polished slabs of cooled magma. Volcanic rock from Pompeii,  and an inner lining of a man-made...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
I run a 43 year old DD table. Paid $45 for it 10 years ago. Cleaned and completely restored it. It’s competent in every way for speed, rumble, arm, suspension, etc.Ive used a Decca Gold, Dynavector, various Ortofons, ATs, Shure, ADCs, Empires, Exc...
