speaker cable placement/arrangement
I'm here for "my people" as but a humble servant. I've noticed some recent ads in high end mags showing speakers in glamorous spaces near gigantic windows with diaphonous curtains and a sultry female...NO speaker wire at all. I guess if your house...
speaker cable placement/arrangement
The only way to insure your cables are not exposed to vibration is to not use the speakers. Otherwise, as long as all your other cables are sufficiently shielded it simply makes sense to keep AC and speaker wires away from signal cables, with the ...
Why 24/7 warm-up period on amps?
Elizabeth clearly owns stock in an oil company and is trying to destroy the world. Other than that, she makes perfect sense.

Help choosing speakers
I think "Clem" is a great name for a boy and "Saffola" for a girl.
Help choosing speakers
I second the Vandersteen 1b or c...I had a new pair of 1Bs years ago (sold after having the factory repair some cat damage) and was amazed at how deep they went...just a great clean sounding speaker and you can find 'em used in good shape with sta...
DAC placement

All Steely Dan is amazing...vinyl and otherwise including the solo stuff from Becker and Fagan. I recommend John Scofield, especially the stuff with Medeski et al, for kick butt jazz (Metheny usually uses a too "apologetic" tone for my tastes), an...
Final verdict with amplifier
For the record, you can absolutely damage speakers before driving an amp into clipping, although a distorted amp will get 'em first. Most speakers will handle some quick and clean high powered transient peaks, but any high current amp of 100 watts...
Phono pre-amplifier
I use a Cambridge 640P and it sounds amazing...its main fault is that it's not expensive enough to be taken seriously by some, but that's likely due to not having heard it.

Cat damaged speaker, Help
Also try providing a system just for the cats so they are less tempted to disturb other systems.
Peachtree Nova vs. INova?
Are there reliabilty issues with Peachtree stuff?
S/Pdif vs. Toslink
As it was explained to me by my local high end salon, Toshiba's "toslink" wasn't very well designed in the first place, and requires that a digital signal be turned into light and then back again to current, which seems unnecessarily complicated u...
