Class D amps It is important to carefully research any question before posting it to this forum as many here live on the edge of emotional sanity, and asking a seemingly uninformed or naive question can push some members into a frenzied and uncontrollable epis...
Totem Arro vs Silverline Prelude vs Salk Songtower I've been accused of "overselling" the Preludes as better than they are, but having upgraded some things around them lately (power supplies for my DAC and phono preamp, digital cable, speaker wires, vibrapods and butcher block stands that raise 'e...
Bryston sound 'neutral' ???? Let's not let personal taste cloud an issue that is 100% about personal taste.
Totem Arro vs Silverline Prelude vs Salk Songtower Preludes are around $1500 now so the field has widened a bit. I think the small baffle profile is a big part of what makes 'em work. Also, I've heard some new Epos stuff in that price range that is sweet sounding.
How long it take before your system/amps sound The lighted displays on everything else (coffee maker, stove, microwave) seem to go on forever so I can assume hifi stuff can also. That doesn't mean it will, but it's a comforting thought.
Praise for DacMagic I predict the DACMagic plus will get RAVE reviews over the next couple of months and it will eventually be on every "best of 2012" list. Watch.
How long it take before your system/amps sound In all seriousness...or maybe a little seriousness...my old Forte' 55 takes about a half hour to get the mojo. Leaving everything on all the time is simply a shameful waste about which anybody who does that should be ashamed...or at least not admi...
Totem Arro vs Silverline Prelude vs Salk Songtower I bought some used Preludes a year or so ago...they are amazing with a small REL sub, good cables, etc...nothing quite like 'em really.

Speaker cable vibration? I put sorbothane Vibrapods under my speakers...now MUCH less vibration goes into the floor from the main speakers so my cables seem to just lie there peacefully while moving the electrons along. They are massaged by the subwoofer a little, and I t...
Does your system take you there or...? I was listening to "Waltz for Debbie" again today while breaking-in a new tonearm cable...maybe it was my mood or something but man...I was transported once again by that LP and those ghosty crowd voices were right there with me. I had planned to ...
Praise for DacMagic The "plus" supposedly will be in the US later this month.
Cambridge 640P Power Supply Upgrade Nothing special...a carefully set up Linn Basik/Akito/Sumiko Pearl (upgrade coming as soon as I decide what to replace it with...not in any hurry as it sounds fine). I don't use any esoteric power cables as I have never noticed them improving anyt...
Praise for DacMagic I bought another P100 for my 640P phono preamp...I love those damned things. Seems to make the 640P warmer and more accurate...or something...and having 2 P100s next to each other in the back of my rack looks like the headlights in some space vehi...
Can Vandy's get along with cats? Yeah...my tennis racquets, vintage violins, and the Ramirez. It's a cat intestine festival around here. |
