help identifying bass solutions with system
Moving my Linn to the recommended (interestingly) "light but stable" lowish table worked for me...also I absolutely need the 20hz rumble filter that comes with my Cambridge 640P phono preamp or it's a woofer pumpfest.
proac tablette - signatures / rainmakers, et al
Add Silverline Minuets...sound great.
Shun Mook Record Weight
My now dead former neighbor Lars had the entire Mpingo disk treatment in his isolated sound room...installed by the Shun Mook dudes...absolute expensive audio exotica stuck to speakers, walls, on little stands...I'm not sure if it made much differ...
Best "small footprint" speaker between $600-1000
Although I think you're wrong about the Preludes (I use 'em, and they sound steller due to my careful setup of brilliantly matched ancillary component choices stemming from years of personal wonderfulness), I recently spent some time with a pair o...
Armoire between speakers
Keep in mind that a reflective surface well behind the plane of the baffle will reflect some bass rolloff to the sides where you aren't. Unless you are, in which case you should move back to the sweet spot and stop looking out the window at the in...
Armoire between speakers
I used to think you had to have that middle "free space" but I found it all depends on what type of speakers you use...I have the "fireplace in the middle" issue and having moved my current speakers (Silverline Preludes) all over the room I finall...
Praise for DacMagic
According to a discussion I just had with Audio Advisor, the P100 will work with the "plus" as soon as they get a cable that fits (none of the supplied cables work because of a larger center pin on the "plus" PS input). So there.
Praise for DacMagic
The original DACMagic is designed for 12 volt DC also. At least that's what it says on the PS input.
what would cause volume to sudden ramp up to full?
It is true that the helicoptor distracts from listening, but it only flies for 10 minutes maybe (before needing recharging) so it's a sacrifice I feel I can make. I never fly it when listening to LPs as I'm afraid I'll crash it into my turntable.....
what would cause volume to sudden ramp up to full?
A perhaps related note: I cannot use my preamp remote (Kavent S-33) when operating my little remote indoor helicoptor...I've had the helicoptor hovering in its gyro mode while attempting to adjust the Kavent and the volume goes insane causing me t...
Isolation pads for the speaker stands
I put some Vibrapods under my Silverline Preludes not really expecting anything (I mean really...I've been spiking speakers into floors for decades...wasn't I supposed to?) and I'm amazed at how well that works. Highly recommended as a really chea...
Class D amps
I will tolerate non-elitist gasbags.
REL subwoofer crossover question
This may sound simplistic (and might actually be wrong) but somebody at a "boutique" hifi place told me that when hooking up the REL to a Class D amp you connect the 3rd wire to ground on the amp chassis (the other 2 to left and right positive spe...
Praise for DacMagic
HA...yeah...I wonder if the P100 will work with the "plus", but I'm in no hurry to swap out my now "classic" DACMagic.
REL subwoofer crossover question
Neutrik Speakon plugs are ridiculously easy to install on a proper cable (any decent 4 wire speaker cable should work fine using 3 of the wires of course), and I've found that method seems to work best with my groovy old REL.
