Today's New York Times
The Times article is typical lightweight fluff designed to fill some pages with a "general interest" level of fashion news. Again, the "high end" dealers and manufacturers have absolutely no idea how to get young people or ANY people interested in...
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
I have heard that Robot Love can be the most rewarding part of the Synthetic Arts.
Am I totally nuts or just a bit off?
Wouldn't ALL classical fans want to hear "musicians in a space?" What are the options? Spaceless orchestras? Orchestras in space? Orchestras revealed in a soundstage that makes them sound like they were playing in a dumpster? I have nothing agains...
Am I totally nuts or just a bit off?
What I meant is when you mic live musicians (other than orchestras) through a normal PA system you can't mix it in stereo because some audience members are sitting much closer to one side than the other and would wonder why the drummer's high hat ...
Am I totally nuts or just a bit off?
If the music is cool mono can sound fine to a point...stereo sounds better though because that is how the world sounds if both of your ears are working, assuming the music was well mixed and recorded. Live music spacial cues are mostly gone from m...
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
I haven't tried room correction because the room my hifi occupies doesn't need it, for me less is better (my dual mono preamp has source, level, and muting...that's it), and I don't trust robots. The room has plenty of furniture and a padded large...
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
I think digital room correction devices are like asking a robot to select my food. I don't trust 'em, but that's just me. Hipper live sound companies often use an Ipad or some such wireless thing to mix from wherever they need to in a venue, which...
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
So the answer to sub integration is making adjustments by listening. Who knew? Also, note that bass information differs infinitely relative to the recording, so I suggest continued listening and finding a way for easy adjusting. I have an easily a...
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
Actually, I was correcting MY post...and I stand corrected.
Good Listening Lately
Sons of Champlain...brilliant...we used to say they were FAR better than Chicago (way ahead of their time I think) and ironically Bill Champlain winds up in Chicago (maybe his longest gig)...strange... Champlain's solo stuff from late 70s or early...
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
Than...not that.
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
Balderdash...I trust my own ears far more that an avalanche of nonesense.
Why are subwoofers so polarizing?
Bo1972 is utterly full of crap in his ridiculously overstated comments regarding the myth of sub "speed" and should be ignored. Otherwise he's fine.
emotiva mono block amps any good?
Sometimes the best part of the upper crust is the flakiest.
KT120 longevity
Isochronism...I rarely changed guitar amp tubes. Unless something started sounding strange or blew up (VERY rare) I blasted through various Twin Reverbs, my white Bandmaster head, and whatever Boogie/Marshall/Hiwatt I had. Maybe because I couldn't...
