More Tubes = Better Sound Musing: I have a 4 output tube with 4 input tube classic push/pull design amp. It has more than enough juice (65 watts per side, 85 watts peak) to power the speakers I use in the room I use, and when I think about replacing it with a well regarded...
Top brand speakers An interesting position in these forums is the one taken by somebody certain about sound he hasn't actually heard. In my live sound job I've encountered so-called experts here and there, and a few times they've been presented as an artist's person...
Top brand speakers Remember, Bo has 16 years of experience selling stuff, and has heard live music someplace. Armed with cliches gleaned from the lexicon of subjective audio terms, he will not cave until every reader is astonished with his ability to reveal his inna...
High level Subwoofer connection Is it possible to use a high level input if there isn't one? The post says "(ie, REL recommended)" which seems to indicate a REL is in the works...hmm...
High level Subwoofer connection I'm using a maybe 12 foot run of Canare Star Quad with spades at the amp end and an angled (recommended) Neutrik Speakon on the REL side for my single Q150e...looks and sounds great.
New KT150 tubes? Wow...Jolida DID update their site...I stand corrected.
New KT150 tubes? Confessions: I don't own an ARC amp, but I approve of them generally, and I'm really in no hurry to try 150s so no amps shall be harmed around here. Also, I check my bias on the factory upgraded (I mention that fact to show I care) Jolida 502p I D...
Recommend a SPDIF cable I found some lightly used AQ cables, a VDM5 silver, and a VDM3 silver cladded copper, they work perfectly and cost a fraction of what many charge for new silliness.
New KT150 tubes? Last thing I need is somebody coming to my door at 2AM to confiscate my tubes. Or maybe that's the second to last thing...in any case it's a thing.
Not impressed Frog...I'm simply stating the reality of a world I'm in. There is a huge difference between what you call "rosy eyed" and what I call professional, and I've personally experienced situations with more that a few producers who will fire any asshat ...
Not impressed Frogman...question away...some gigs are, of course, better than others, but over the decades I've done commercial recording dates, backed strippers, and played in sold out arenas...now I mix live sound for world class jazz artists and record and p...
Not impressed As a working musician since 1967 (former Hawaii Union Local 677 member...great place to rehearse my stupid bands when I was 16) I'm surprised I have never heard the "give him a gig" joke, and can say my 3,472,168 gigs have most all been happiness ...
New KT150 tubes? The "life testing" of 150s has taken so long that it's starting to freak me out...I can't take it...keeps me up at night...what will ARC say? What if they say NO? Then all my excitement about pickle shaped overpriced retro-tech microphonics resist...
audiphile power cords Power cables do make a difference...I've tried listening to my system without them and have been met with complete silence...no distortion or room mode interference of course, but no sound either...therefore I can highly recommend AC cords as they...
audiphile power cords If I was to replace my fine sounding but hipness challenged cords with Pangeas that cost under 100 bucks, or ZU audio that are even less in some cases, or entry level Shunyatas, would I then reap the benefits of better electron management? My syst... |
