Tube amp bias question or not? My KT120s have been in use for at least 3000 hours and are still going strong (over 2 years).
For nearfield listening: which of these towers? Preludes are unique in the Silverline range of stuff...only one with aluminim/magnesium drivers, etc. They do sound better single wired, and are a great late night speaker...utterly worth it.
Tube amp bias question or not? I bought a new (factory upgraded) JD502P a couple of years ago and a Radio Shack bias meter just to keep the Jolida LEDs honest, and they have been. Swapped out the 6550s for a quad of KT120s and kept the bias at 500mv, and they've been steady for...
Top brand speakers Gee Alex/Mihorn...those speakers must be REAL GOOD!
Need help on speaker decisions Anybody who questions tube amp reliability should talk to any professional electric guitar player.
Need help on speaker decisions There's nothing old fashioned about modern tube amps...they can sound amazingly clear, accurate, and capable. The added advantage over SS amps is people will think you're a better person than you actually are.
High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground? In the world of "musician appreciation," Peter Green is generally considered a guitar god, Zappa is and was one of the most respected composers and guitar players of his generation, and Lindsey Buckingham is a gazillionaire uber successful dude wh...
High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground? Fleetwood Mac are certainly successful (I saw 'em live by accident once and they were great)...Christine McVie has an amazing voice and has rejoined them I think. My point is that there are other people out there who are worthy of attention and ev...
High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground? My 22 year old daughter produces live shows, which is great for somebody with an Art History degree...
How quiet is your Rogue Sphinx? "Humbusters" are discontinued, but I found mine after searching around a bit so they're still out there. Great bit of kit as they say.
New KT150 tubes? My 120s refuse to die, and there is no reason 150s should cost much more than 120s, except for greed and market demand, which makes the world go around. That and momentum in space and gravity...or something.
High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground? High End audio is NOT the music business which is actually doing fine...big "gate keeper" labels are having to adjust or die, but independent musicians are figuring it out...online concerts, live shows to sell your swag and CDs...all good. Ever kn...
McIntosh to be on How It's Made this Thursday I think the LEDs are there for fun mostly. I learned from the show that you should keep your fingers away from the metal bending machine, and keep your nails in presentable shape for closeups. They had to pick McIntosh for the show as otherwise it...
How quiet is your Rogue Sphinx? I am a "humaphobe" and will not tolerate hum in hifi gear. I have 2 amps (tube and SS) plugged into a PS Audio Humbuster III (mostly for transformer hum in the SS amp...used rarely only for outdoor deck speakers), and my tube amp (Jolida jd502p) i...
High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground? The issue I have with high end is mostly with the retail end of things. They barely do anything to promote music (ever see a small concert at an audio salon? No? Me neither), and apparently are happy with business as usual...I asked somebody at Go... |
