Seems like the best "upgrade" for tube amps.... If I let tube guitar amps warm up (for 30 minutes?) before using them I would make a lot of people stand around. My experience recently with a quad of kt120s was that running music through them as soon they were ready (30 seconds or so) caused the...
Uneven speaker cable lengths? Same old dilemma: Length or girth?
Would vinyl even be invented today? That was a weird explanation of old Rube...but I like it. I also think the turntable thing is "weird science"...recently read about a French dude in the 1840s or so who "recorded" a voice on paper using some sort of dust and a megaphone device tha...
Test CD I got an Isotek CD free with some hifi mag...it's great (the "sound going around your head" feature is cool), but I never use the "burn in" feature because I think it's silly (maybe if I was a speaker reviewer or something I'd use it). I also have...
Seems like the best "upgrade" for tube amps.... You should turn your rig on and listen to it IMMEDIATELY before it gets too warmed up, and then turn it off after a few minutes and go away. It doesn't necessarily sound better, but this forces you to get out more.
New Version Jolida JD502P issues. Just stuck a set of KT150s in my nearly 3 year old "factory modded" 502p, and it sounds AMAZING...a great amp that has pretty much zero publicity other than from happy owners.
Directional speaker cables - switching direction We have no clue if the person called "Elizabeth" authored this stuff, or she (?) simply pasted it from somewhere.
Do you always keep the Amplifier powered on Overpopulation is sad and it's likely too late to turn the ruination of the planet around, so I've changed my stand on this issue and say LEAVE IT ALL ON as it no longer matters. Sort of sets you free doesn't it?
Directional speaker cables - switching direction I think it's a shame more women aren't into this hobby, or more anybody actually.
Tube Preamp vs Solid State My SS preamp is very clean sounding and puts an accurate signal into my tube power amp grease festival...I would like to get a tube preamp someday but anything I like is so expensive that I don't give a crap, and my feeling is that my tube amp is ...
tube preamp with SS amp Your central air sucks...it gets hot as hell where I live in the summer and the central AC works great, absolutely negating tube amp heat issues....I've been to AZ plenty and if you can't get the air below 80 you need a plumber, or a filter replac...
New KT150 tubes? The latest data from my uber-scientific research regarding "damage from 120s/150s due to filament draw" says they will not damage a god damned thing. You can read more about this study in my earlier post, and if they damage your ARC it will be the...
Directional speaker cables - switching direction The "women hear better than men" comments refer to hearing range which is likely better than many men might have. However, the sound QUALITY of a hifi rig to the trained and experienced ear is a different thing and is subject to the tastes (or lac...
cable reviews? Don't forget that USED cables are among the best deals in hifi out there, and unless the cables were used on a lobster boat or in a greasy diner kitchen you can't really go wrong and you'll save a pile over new stuff (if you buy something that suc...
RCA or Optical? I use 2 AQ coax...VDM3 from the CD player to the DAC, and a VDM5 from my streamer...they both work very well, and although they're different lengths and designs (the "3" is silver coated copper, the "5" is solid silver) they are absolutely indisti... |
