How do you know when to replace tubes Once again, the risk of transformer failure from wildly careless drunk and clearly insane risk taking tube rollers raises its ugly head. I did an informal study of this issue a couple of years ago (this study is ongoing by the way) and determined....
How do you know when to replace tubes LONG time...not "ling" time...my retired 120s were about 100 bucks less than the 150s I just bought (they're still available by the way), and when you adjust for inflation, "present value" of money, Russian raw goods indices, jo mama, gross weight...
Power blackouts - problem for tube amp & speakers I use Serge protection when confronted by churlish Italian waiters.
Power blackouts - problem for tube amp & speakers My Jolida power amp (and many other designs) needs to be re-started by hitting the amp power switch if it goes off, and it's happened...only rarely though. Do not be frightened by tube amp risk myths as well designed modern tube amps are pretty da...
DAC straight to power amp? If you attach it directly to your amp you have maybe one shot at ALWAYS having the level controlled by your computer, as you can be dumping a nice line level surprise to your amp if you take your eye off that ball. Good luck, and wear earplugs jus...
Tubes for Jolida Fusion Preamp Those AT7s with the gold pins are tempting and I hope they have those when my 4024s wear out.
How do you know when to replace tubes They became more affordable and now cost about the same as 120s on a weight basis (it might take 5 120s to equal 4 150s), they could last a ling time, and they're larger than any other tube that will fit in my amp (!)...I was listening to a great ...
New KT150 tubes? Happy to report that the 150s are great...not unlike the 120s initial impression of effortless expansion of the whole frequency spectrum, and it seems the amp is a little louder, although that could be my imagination...little more heat but no bigg...
How do you know when to replace tubes I had the same tubes in my '60 Fender Deluxe for over three decades.
How do you know when to replace tubes I didn't count the hours on my 120s but it was about 2 and a half years of use...even 5 hours a day (I have my rig on more than that usually) is over 5000 hours, and they still held their bias and sounded fine until that last couple of weeks.
How do you know when to replace tubes I say use your ears, and have backup tubes around from your god damn tube hoarding fetish...oops...got carried away there...there is NO way anybody else can suggest when to change the tubes on an amp they're not personally listening to so stick th...
New KT150 tubes? I've been using tube amps since about 1962 (albeit that was my cousin's white Bandmaster guitar amp), and anytime my Nutz get into a thread, well, it's a good thing...note that with all of those tube guitar amps nobody cared one bit about warm up ...
What sub under a grand? 200hz is bone crushing lower midrange.
Directional speaker cables - switching direction Using cables attached in the wrong direction opens the door to chaos...once on that path you could be doomed...is it worth it? NO NO NO...However, one thing you can try is to erase the little arrows and anything saying "speaker" or "amp" on the ca...
New KT150 tubes? I completely forgot how old this thread was, and I just re-read the whole thing (something I never do)...I've been using some Sovtek kt88s and Tung Sol 6550s from my "barely used" tube stash once I sensed recently that the 120s might have been fin... |
