What is best turntable for listening to Rock from the sixties like Led Zeppelin?
I’m from Honolulu where I worked as a musician from 1967 to 1986. I moved to the Right Coast, still play here and there, and mix live concerts as an insanely esthetically rewarding sideline (highly recommended). The name Wolf Garcia is the result ...

I primarily use 3 electric guitars these days (and one lap steel) made with differing woods, pickups, bridges, etc., and the sound and feel of each is completely different. That's why I use them. My amps are tube (except my current bass amp) with ...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
I utterly disagree with the assertion that my last post wasn't funny…there were plenty of funny parts in it. At least 3. I do enjoy this entire thread as a prime example of Audio Mysticism, and can further describe what I think is happening here (...

I’ve professionally mixed, recorded, and performed electric and acoustic music for decades, and if anybody thinks acoustic instruments are less dynamic than electric ones, they’re unaware of the of the basics of music sound and reproduction. And t...

To "take the plunge" for 30 days means hundreds of dollars sent to people I don't trust, a time period to test fuses that would be rendered useless if the fuse was in backwards, and a very expensive proposition  to replace all of the fuses in my r...
I have seen some Interesting comments about Mcintosh lately
Surfers don't need tide data if they're surfing because they're actually physically in the data stream and can see and feel the currents…I wear a watch while surfing to see what time it is, and to show off my cool watches when they're not hidden u...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
I'm one of the few that has asserted that a fuse can't make a difference approaching anything like described ad nauseum in this thread (as long as the fuse holder is clean and functioning as designed…letting unfettered electrons through until sens...

Yeah…anybody who isn't clueless about actual music might have differing views. What nonsense…a clear weird bias against supposed "guitar amp fuzz" indicating a very limited understanding or appreciation of great Rock and Roll music renders the pre...
Cable length dilemma!
Close the flue…and put something on the roof to retrieve the lows that escaped! There's an easy test to see if the fireplace is "detrimental" and that is to put a rug or something that absorbs sound over the fireplace and listen to the system. I s...
Cable length dilemma!
I also have the "fireplace between the speakers" situation (albeit a fake gas thing) and both cables are the same length (10 feet or so) with the closer speaker cable only looping once and crossing itself only once…no hum, loss, inductance issues…...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
To sum up: I estimate the manufacturing cost of the fuses to be about 2 to 5 bucks, they're sold for $99 or so, and for my entire system (really the only way to realize your full enjoyment potential) is into $700 to $1000 territory. So much for "c...

21 pages…man...The reason "results are always good" is very likely due to the fact that with subjective listening to something that cost you 10 times what it replaced, you're going to really try to hear a difference. Tossing out the skeptics as "o...

The flaw in the Music Specific Gear argument is simply not understanding music reproduction's basic facts, among these the "low level detail" content myths…if you think Zep and AC/DC recordings lack anything sonically relative to classical oboe co...
Subwoofers and "speaker level" (or "high level") inputs
I have a couple of RELs from the "Q" model era and they work as advertised providing seemingly accurate low end for days, and are built very well so if there are less than high quality caps in these things this is the first I've heard about that. ...
Upgrading power cables
I use a dedicated water line to the ice maker in my refrigerator, so the dedicated AC line thing does make sense.
