EL 34 vs. KT 88 ---- What's the difference? How about "more to my liking." Better looking? Easier to dust...repels stains...dishwasher safe...A Good Housekeeping seal of approval...burns your fingers slightly less when touched (actually true with KT77s)...preserves the smell of the original...
Horns: Why don't they image well? Nothing quite like Heresys in a large warehouse...however, with Heresy IIIs 9 feet from my head the imaging is astonishingly good. Come on over and hear 'em George (see, I know he's in Australia and unlikely to find me here near Boston, still...).
Help me choose a speaker match for my Line Magnetic 805ia tube amp under $10K I have Klipsch Heresy IIIs with a couple of REL subs and it's a world class sounding combo. I use a relatively low powered single ended amp (10 or 12 wpc depending on the power tubes), but here's a review from a dude using a Line Magnetic amp with...
Best place to sell high end audio equipment? I had a pair of beautiful new speakers on Ebay recently for a few months...nothing (although Ive had success there before)...they were a somewhat esoteric small brand so there's that, but I listed them here and they sold in a week.
Speakers positionning Ignore all advice from here or anywhere...move your speakers around until the image and tone sounds right for your tastes, and if you still aren't satisfied just buy different speakers or it's off to the headphone dealer.
Opinion of Acurus 2 and 3 channel amplifiers is ... what? After the second time sending my then new A250 back to Mondial to fix the same annoying buzz, I sold it. Note the buzz had been fixed again, I told the guy who bought it all about it, and have no clue if that pesky buzz reappeared...Mondial may ha...
Jazz for aficionados I love jazz, have for years...unlike seemingly 90% of everybody else including nearly everybody I know except fellow musicians who at least claim to like "some of it." Oh well...example: I was at a guitar talk-concert thing at a famous Lexington M...
Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy? Who has room for La Scalas? (Rhetorical question for which I prefer there not be answers proffered...thanks) However, they do seem to be a bargain at 4 grand, and based on my recent success (a pleasant surprise) with Heresy IIIs I can only imagine...
Horns: Why don't they image well? Wait...can we get back to my pizza question? I get frustrated when questions are ignored...
Speaker vibration isolation My Klipsch Heresy IIIs must have pretty low center of gravity buy I don't take 'em out on the road much to see how they corner, and when I used Vibrapods with a higher center of gravity "tower" speaker they worked great with those also...'pods are...
Speaker vibration isolation Relatively inexpensive Vibrapods accomplish exactly the same thing as any other vibration absorbing item noted here...they turn vibration into heat, keep speaker vibration from getting to the floor, and make speakers sound more focused. That's wha...
Missing the forest for the trees A great sounding system playing a great recording actually will reproduce the sound of a concert hall with amazing detail...ambient crowd sounds, reverberant hall sound...it's all there...compare a studio orchestral recording to a live concert hal...
Are you as OCD as this audiophile? That guy, for me anyway, is really hard to listen to.
Speaker vibration isolation I have classic suspended wood floors and stick Vibrapods under my Klipsch Heresy III speakers, and did so with my previous faves Silverline Preludes. Works really well in decoupling the speakers from the floor and 'pods don't cost much.
Accuracy vs. musicality My Klipsch Heresy IIIs are absolutely "accurate" in the sense that they reveal the differences between recordings to a very high degree, and provide a sense of "being there" by projecting a believable and musically appropriate sonic image. This co... |
