Does anyone use white gloves to handle records?
When promoting a guest's music spot, Jimmy Fallon grabs the vinyl out of the album jacket like an animal...I cringe every damn time. Somebody in his staff should show him how to handle LPs. Also, I do wear white gloves for big balls. Doesn't every...
Does anyone use white gloves to handle records?
Anybody who has handled vinyl for a while gets the technique of touching only the edges and label...all others should learn that or be banned from the things. I was always horrified by hip-hop DJs but have learned to accept that part...otherwise b...
Tower vs Similar Bookshelf?
Silverline Preludes are a great sounding example of a small tower replicating what is good about mini monitors, with the added benefit of a much fuller range. Get a used pair.
Will decent speakers always out do headphones?
I recently upgraded my Grados from the SR80e to a pair of SR325e (aluminum) masterpieces. Man, these cans kill it, so to speak...I don't generally use these in my main rig, although these are so good I bought a second Schiit Magni 3 for that, but ...
Which SR Blue or black Fuse
I thought my natural body oil WAS a contact enhancer, which has kept me from showering during Contact Cleaning Week.
Are Pass Labs amps probably the best ever you can buy ?
So now I know what to do with my four grand...keep it and use it for more tubes.
Are Pass Labs amps probably the best ever you can buy ?
Didn’t I just mention the SIT amp? Are you trying to make me feel sad? I've read a lot of reviews of that thing but I’m stuck!..I REALLY like my Had amp...it just sounds so good...and the tubes glow...plays plenty LOUD if need be simply since my s...
Warmer sounding Solid State
An expert amp designer recently noted here someplace that harsh speaker treble with SS amps is simply the nature of transistors...I've owned SS amps that weren't harsh particularly, but the tube amps I've owned and prefer these days have a more na...
Are Pass Labs amps probably the best ever you can buy ?
I’ve always liked Nelson Pass and his designs but unfortunately I’m tied to a little Dennis Had single ended tube amp driving efficient speakers...I can’t break loose...that new 25 watt Pass amp seems SO cool...but I fool myself into thinking tube...
Which SR Blue or black Fuse
I'm not happy about the results I reported about the Magic Fuses I tested as I know it saddens many who shelled out their tweak bucks for the things, and causes them to try harder to "believe" their fuses do things fuses don't, can't, and never wi...
I like my system flat, no tone controls, no eq..........what is your preference, and why.
I did some research and found that quite possibly Schroeder and Schneider are the same person. Nothing conclusive yet, but agents are combing through thousands of documents including high school yearbooks and restaurant receipts to get to the bott...
Which SR Blue or black Fuse
The only fuses I've used in recent years that blew were SR Black fuses I was testing for their sound. Also, I concluded that they had no impact on the sound of the components I stuck 'em in, and after testing I sent the pile of them back to my sou...
I like my system flat, no tone controls, no eq..........what is your preference, and why.
The 20 hz knob on the Loki is "centered" at that frequency and effects the frequencies nearby, so the effect takes away or adds low bass. It’s not a notch, it’s a smooth curve. Although I augment my (seriously underrated and amazingly great soundi...
I like my system flat, no tone controls, no eq..........what is your preference, and why.
A great system can often highlight the crap part of crappy recordings, or since the system sound is so nice otherwise it might make them more palatable. A paradox...the Schiit Loki is an inexpensive little gem of a gizmo that could be worth a shot.
I like my system flat, no tone controls, no eq..........what is your preference, and why.
I also have wound up with a system that doesn’t need anything but me listening to it...However, not having tone controls doesn’t mean your system is "flat," it simply means you aren’t able to flatten or un-flatten anything with a gizmo or tone/lou...
