tube rolling with Schiit Freya + I sent the Aegir back to Schiit (at a loss of around 100 bucks for return shipping and "re-stocking") as it doesn't sound as good (to me) as my single ended Had Firebottle tube amp...the Aegir did sound very interesting and certainly lives up to i...
Should I sell my accuphase for this schiit Regarding the comment "Well Schiit measures poorly," : I was pleasantly surprised by the Schiit Aegir's measured performance. It is a well-engineered amplifier at an affordable price.—John AtkinsonRead more at https://www.stereophile.com/content/s...
Suggestions for higher efficiency speakers After auditioning them before buying a pair a couple of years ago, I was pleasantly surprised by how Klipsch Heresy IIIs sound having not paid much attention to the brand over the years...now they might be cheaper since that model is being upgrade...
Need 20 - 25 foot spk cables. Bulk Audioquest Type 8...great low noise speaker cable.
Should I sell my accuphase for this schiit I recently spent several days "auditioning" a Schiit Aegir...it's a great sounding amp (I have very efficient speakers so one is enough), and although I had trouble with the first amp they sent me...it's "protection" kept shutting it off...the sec...
Amp tripping circuit breaker. I had a breaker fail once and (after shutting off the main power switch) I simply removed it, took it to Home Depot to make sure I bought the right replacement...installed it in a few minutes. Done.
Dynaudio burn in time and how you do it... I agree with the "listen to them and don't worry" suggestion. Break-in of any component has to take into account the fact that you're going to personally adjust to the sound anyway. I've had (recently actually) new speakers that just let me down a...
tube rolling with Schiit Freya + I'm not sure about my Freya burn-in...it simply sounded great from day one (a couple of years ago...original version). I tried all sorts of tubes and landed on NOS GEs as my fave...a taste thing. I'm now breaking-in a Schiit Aegir amp...it's amazi...
Pass Labs and Fuses Note to my alter ego George...I inspired Ted Denny to surface when I posted that I read someplace his fuses were made in China...he popped in to accuse me of "fake news"...creepy!
SET vs Class A vs tubes vs Class AB amps It's bass, not base. My little SEP Dennis Had tube amp will play anything well...from chamber jazz to Little Feat to Mahler...as any well designed amp should. If your rig is "music style specific" there's simply something wrong with the thing...do...
Diving into the world of tubes...help needed! Hey jetter...yeah, the Aegir has tempered my desire for an XA25 for now anyway. The Aegir (I've had it for only a couple of days after having to send the first one back...input sensitivity issues...Schiit payed for all the shipping of course and c...
Diving into the world of tubes...help needed! Speaking of bargain gear, my original series Schiit Freya preamp (there are two newer versions, one without tubes and a supposed improved version of the tubed one) sounds excellent, as does the Schiit Aegir amp I just bought out of curiosity (I ge...
Pre Amp / Amp for Klipsch KLF-10 Update...I should start a new thread about the Aegir amp, but weirdly this whole thing was sidetracked by a faulty amp. It never got very hot like it's supposed to, and when I "gave it the beans" (phrase borrowed from "Top Gear") its protection ci...
Pass Labs and Fuses I'm still waiting for a response to my "wire direction chaos" post...it's almost as if nobody cares...*sniff*...and to address Kaitty's comment...yes, georghifi and I are the same person. Anybody got a problem with that?
Pass Labs and Fuses A couple of years ago I tested a pile of SR fuses just to give my ranting some credibility (!) and found they were useless and somewhat dangerous as their ratings were suspect. You can look it up...also, note that nobody responded to my previous p... |
