Klipsch speaker choices
I still stand by the excellent mids in my Heresy IIIs along with everything else I said...and really helomach, you're lookin' kinda creepy at this point...if you refuse to respond respectfully please refrain from responding at all.
Klipsch speaker choices
My primary reference comes from decades of mixing hundreds of live concerts by a very wide range of musicians. I own "current and up to date" gear from my hifi rig to piles of professional gear, home recording things, musical instruments all over ...

Hey..."Mr. D" guilted me into damping my mid horns and it was a fun and cheap mod that made 'em sound somewhat cleaner and was worth it, so THANKS "D"...I've heard all of the speakers helomech mentions...a couple of 'em extensively, and I still ma...

I don't think Heresy IIIs have a particular tonal response...horns are often more "immediate" sounding because of their efficiency and that's a good thing, but my experience with these things indicates they're somewhat tonally neutral in the sense...
Final Decision On First Tube - Help Please
There’s a new 20wpc (about twice the power of most of his other stuff) Dennis Had Firebottle SEP (single ended pentode) stereo amp on Ebay...I own one of his 12wpc amps and it’s astonishingly good, certainly among the finest hand made tube amps ou...
Vinyl “Pops & Clicks” eliminators
There are relatively inexpensive digital looping gizmos I could record some wrinkling paper into...pop some packing bubble wrap also...all I need is pine incense and I'll be all set.
Vinyl “Pops & Clicks” eliminators
The crackling of a vinyl adds an authentic sound when using the gas fireplace in my listening room...it sounds more like a wood fireplace, and when listening to digital sources I have to use a wood fireplace crackle sound generator which, unfortun...

I use a Dennis Had 12wpc or so (depending on output tubes) amp with Heresy IIIs and they sound amazingly good with 2 REL subs (I had the subs before the Heresy IIIs). The Had amps are sole new only on Ebay and are in various styles, from $1200 or ...
What would be involved in updating Hersey II’s to Hersey IV’s?
Having 30 years or 50 years experience of a brand has zero to do with now really, and the only Klipsch stuff I've ever paid much attention to are the "now" versions. Changes include vastly different driver materials, horn throat and phase plug tec...
Dipping toes in tube preamp pool!!
The amazing Schiit "Freya +" competes with far more costly preamps, and has useful design features rare in any tube preamp let alone those that are far more costly.
Budget Tube Amp (newbie)
Jolida (or Black Ice as they're now weirdly named) makes great integrated tube amps...inexpensive new, and a can be very inexpensive used.
What would be involved in updating Hersey II’s to Hersey IV’s?
Increasing the size of a previously sealed cabinet is clearly based on the design and tuning of the port relative to the woofer...I’m sure they wouldn’t bother otherwise. Also, Heresy IIIs (and other "heritage" models) simply sound excellent "leav...
What would be involved in updating Hersey II’s to Hersey IV’s?
UPDATE...I found a pic and some info on a Klipsch community forum along with this quote from a Klipsch dude at RMAF: "In speaking with the Klipsch rep, he stated the change in the Heresy IV from the III is:  (a) the speaker is now a bass reflex sp...
What would be involved in updating Hersey II’s to Hersey IV’s?
Heresy IIIs are great speakers even in their stock form...I "damped" the mid horns on mine and it didn’t make much difference, but I think they’re simply an astoundingly great sounding speaker if used with equally good ancillary gear...in my case ...
Klipsch, introduces The Cornwall IV, and I think it will be a killer !
I heard the new Cornwall IVs, albeit briefly, at a New Hampshire shop and they have what I consider to be the Klipsch "house sound" somewhat...a good thing, and they seem very large in person at least compared to my Heresy IIIs...but similar tonal...
