HOME THEATer PRE AMP NAD, ROTEL, or Anthem I don't know if Atmos is important to you but from my understanding the T187 will not get an Atmos or DTSX module but will get a module with 4K video support and HDCP 2.2. copy protection. I would email or call NAD tech support to confirm this.Bill
HOME THEATer PRE AMP NAD, ROTEL, or Anthem I have a previous generation NAD T-175HD(90% same as T187) that I have more than enjoyed for the last 3 to 4 years. It sounds fantastic for HT and music and has been reliable. If it was to take a dump in the near future, I would definitely consi...
DENON APO 1500 While the POA-1500 is a very well built and nice sounding amp, I would not use it with nominal 4ohm speakers. It just does not have the low impedance driving capabilities. Very sensitive protection circuitry. I used this amp all day long at mid...
When speakers duplicate drivers Three 6.5 inch drivers handing off(1700Hz) to a 5.75 inch tractrix horn with a 1.25 inch compression titanium driver. Very smooth transition with no cancellation or phase issues that are noticeable.Bill
Time for a new 2 channel amplifier - looking for suggestions "what do you like about the acurus sound?"Just about everything. Dead quiet, cool running, detailed, neutral, and oh yes I almost forgot, the bass drive. Kind of like the suggested Anthem from the previous post.Bill
Time for a new 2 channel amplifier - looking for suggestions The Chorus II's are efficient but do respond better on the low end with a bit more grunt. My buddy had a pair of Chorus I's and drove them with a Cambridge Audio 540A(50w/ch)and though they did sound nice, they really opened up when he added an A...
Time for a new 2 channel amplifier - looking for suggestions What preamp are you using? Could an integrated amp be a possibility?Chorus II's can be a bit finicky with placement, amps, sources. The right amp and placement can really make the Chorus II's shine and yes they can play loud, very loud. When I ...
Receiver for Klipschorn Home Theater If Atmos is not a must have, I would try a midlevel or higher NAD or Anthem. A Belle Klipsch will make a great center if you want to mount TV on top. If you have a projector and AT screen a La Scala will be great also.Bill
New Power Amp from... Monoprice Looks very similar to the ATI AT2007. Just may be a fraternal twin which would not be a bad thing at all.Bill
how do you select a center channel to match when the company only makes monitor speakers? If your HT room will have an AT screen, then a third Harbeth of the same model will be your best choice. Otherwise, go with the best sounding speaker that will fit your space and be as timbre matched as possible.Bill
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH WATTS? I would say the benefit of more(quality) watts would be headroom. Some specifics like how loud you listen and how large/small your room is should determine if you "need" more watts than 80/100 watts.I have a Yamaha A-S1000 integrated amp with "on...
Amp choices As mentioned the Aragon 8008BB is a fine amp, I would even say wonderful amp, that will drive just about any speaker out there. Neutral and punchy with great dynamics. If your 8008BB is up to spec with fully functioning power caps, toroidals, di...
Should I have my Luxman R-115 repaired? That sure is some beautiful country where you live. My sister is in Asheville. Bill
Should I have my Luxman R-115 repaired? I have owned both the R-115 and R-117 and both are very sweet sounding receivers. IMO, both have exactly the same sound signature with great dynamic headroom with the R-117 boasting a true, if not conservative 160w/ch. Mine were in almost mint c...
recommendations on a good used cd player for under $750 I can third the vote for an 840C.Bill |
