Soooo many choices.
Doggitter - ask yourself some simple questions. What sampling rates do you want to listen too- 16/44, 24/96, 24/192, 24/384, or better...- you get what you pay for and for the best you pay lotsDo you want to get up off your butt to change sources? ...
Soooo many choices.
One last point to consider - on some dacs not all inputs have the same Max sample rate. Very often one input will process a lower rate.
Soooo many choices.
Doggitter - the best advice I can give you is to...- first list your requirements in detail, then- compare the specs of the dacs you are considering- try to audition them - at home if possible- then make the decision.Schiit has a 15 day return pol...
REVIEW: Schiit Bifrost DAC
Chayro - know what you mean - you must have read my review of the Raysonic SP120 :-) I still liked the sound - just fed up heating the house every time I listened to music - extremely happy with the Naim - after 2+ yearsI'm much more selective the...

If you are considering HD streaming you might want to rethink wireless.I had a terrible time with wireless streaming WAV files using Apple products - in the end I ran cable to the router. That was one of the reasons I looked at the stream magic 6....
REVIEW: Schiit Bifrost DAC
My apologies to Schiit and also any Gungnir owners, since I didn't mean to "infer" that the only difference between the Bifrost and the Gungnir was the balanced outputs in my review above. Far from it!The Gungnir is a completely "balanced design",...
looking for cable recommendations
Jambalya - welcome to the VDH club :-)I've had my D352 on my system for many years and with each upgrade they still allow the improvements to be clearly heard.I have to wonder exactly how good the resolution on this cable is. Certainly my system d...
Soooo many choices.
One thing about the Gungnir - it doesn't just have balanced outputs - it is a completely balanced design - it's almost like having a bifrost for each channelAlthough I'm a fan of Cambridge Audio - I have their latest phono stage - after this exper...
Soooo many choices.
And - I didn't need balanced outputs
Soooo many choices.
Cost is always a factor, but since my first look at the Gungnir I noticed that the Bifrost had the Uber upgrade, which is the same audio stage as the Gungnir apparantly.Seemed like an opportunity to save $300 without loosing too much in performanc...

What cables are you using?Since using DH Labs cables I have had no problems with optical - they lock in place and are one of the fastest cables out thereMy surround sound system sounded so much better once I put them In the loop.Had them on my iMa...
