Mixing rca interconnect cables
@2007audioman - I have listened to several DVD's and the well produced ones, like "Hotel Califonia" sound really good. But from a details perspective, they pale in comparison to my 2-channel system.I feel more "real life" from 2 channel - whereas ...

@2007audioman - all of the IC's were good quality - Van den Hul DL102 mkIII with Furutech RCA's and wired in a floating shield configuration. http://www.vandenhul.com/products/cables/the-d-102-iii-hybrid-halogen-freeI replaced the Surround IC's ...

@2007audioman - it really depends on how discerning you ears and brain areFirst - can your ears tell the differenceSecond, can your brain differentiate quality levels between - the sounds coming from the surround from the sound vs.- the sound comi...
a beginner question about compatibility of cable metals for speakers (s video)
@rkrk - do you want to reproduce the full audio spectrum?Although @Almarg is probably right - in that the s-video cables may just get a little warm - I do not believe 26 or 28 gauge conductors will effectively deliver the full audio spectrum. What ...
Tenting home for termites
Do they use a gas - or is it some kind of vapor/mist/fog (i.e. wet)If the latter - I'd get my system out of the house - especially my speakers - they have paper cones.Thankfully - termites don't survive the winters up here in Canada!
CD players = dead?
It’s almost the vinyl story repeating itself all over again.Consumer oriented audio companies may drop them, but esoteric brands will continue to produce them - cos those with collections will need to play themBut I do see the distant future marke...

@toddverrone ....RE: Audition notes - at first I tended to write everything in my blog as I heard them, but now I just make lists of things that I hear and at  how many hours. Then I flesh it out with detailsIt took me about 4-5 reviews to get a...

Just looked at the pics you posted - that’s great - to loose helix you’ve used will prevent any noise interference and the counter rotation looks as though it will prevent contamination between the neutrals very well I think they look great and sh...

@toddverrone - that's great to hear - awsome!RE:... One thing that I keep thinking about in regards to the signal.. if it was one run of cable, wouldn’t the worries over noise be the same? Or would that not be an issue because it’s full signa...

@toddverrone - re... So, you really think the twisted signals and combined neutrals could contaminate one another, even though they’re carrying the same signal? Well let me explain my thinking...- the voltage applied to the two sets of terminals ...

@toddverrone - "Bad-Ass" - I likes it! Maybe I’ll post a new cable on my blog - "The Bad-Ass Helix" (LOL)If it were me, the decision would be down to - bi-wiring or bi-amp-ing?For the former... - I would elect for the simple approach and forget ab...

@toddverrone - re... I’ll twist the signals together I am assuming you are twisting the two bi-wire signal conductors - one 12 gauge (for LF) and one 14 gauge (for HF) and then wrapping two sets of neutral conductors around the twisted signals?P...
Help me build speaker cables please!
@toddverrone - that’s very interesting - sounds as though pushing the signal onto the neutral rail of the amp caused some issue - normally it only causes an out of phase condition - i.e. bad image and poor bass.Anyhow, glad to hear nothing in the ...
