Vibration isolation or absorption?
All I did was answer your questions. Sorry if I offended you.  I am here to show there is a superior methodology that exists in this industry and has for a very long time. We are capable of explaining more, having more experience, and seein...
Vibration isolation or absorption?
How’s that for solving the vibration problem? Dubious. 🤣
Vibration isolation or absorption?
Robert, You are indeed playing semantic games, and are clearly biased given that you have related products for sale. Also, please stop with the straw men. Spikes couple components to whatever they sit on, while spring/damper devices can come ...
Vibration isolation or absorption?
@audiopoint I am neither an engineer, nor a "Vibration Management Consultant", but I find some of the assertions in your above post to be dubious. Springs, discs, pucks, squish balls, pads, cones, spheres, and all the materials have retailed i...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
I updated my Pontus II the other day. I'm still on the fence regarding the sound change. Seems like there's been a significant boost in treble.  I'm getting glitches that sound like a brief skip that didn't happen before the update. That ain...
Denafrips Pontus II Clicks Or Static?
Thanks @jaytor – I appreciate your technical insights. I tend to believe that it was likely a (Denafrips) clock issue, but whatever the exact cause, I hope that the latest firmware has resolved the issue for owners of the affected DACs.
Denafrips Pontus II Clicks Or Static?
@whipsaw - You can call it a hardware problem if you want, but IMO, it was (is) a rational approach to solving the problem of jitter reduction of source-clocked digital data. @jaytor  If it was not a hardware problem, then how would you explain...
Seriously though, maybe the best tweak is exercise?
@sssmackie  Thanks for your anecdotes and related thoughts. I agree completely that inflammation can impact hearing, and that there is plenty of evidence to support the assertion. Of related note, sinuses are located close to the ear canals, and...
Next High End Bookshelf Upgrade - Marten Parker/Oscar Duo Owners Welcome
FWIW, I auditioned the Parkers, but went with FinkTeam KIM. They are terrific two-ways, and the integrated stands are excellent. Martin Colloms produced a very comprehensive review, linked here: FinkTeam KIM review They aren't widely distribute...
Denafrips Pontus II Clicks Or Static?
@atp001 I’m no engineer, but again, everything about this saga thus far suggests that it was/is fundamentally a hardware problem, and that it has yet to be fully resolved. Again, Denfrips said recently that the firmware:   Reduced the effe...
Denafrips Pontus II Clicks Or Static?
In September of 2021, Alvin told me that the problem was "likely caused by the FIFO buffer overrun". Here is an explanation of an overrun from the Cisco website support pages (bold emphasis mine):   Q. What are overruns on a serial interface? ...
Denafrips Pontus II Clicks Or Static?
@atp001  With respect to the topic of this post and the issue I personally experienced, the firmware appears to have corrected the problem.  Thus logically, it was a software related issue. Has it done so for every user that experienced issues...
Building stands for Harbeth 40.2's
The selection of a speaker stand must fulfil only two core criteria: raising the tweeter so that, ideally, the tweeter is level with your ear (very few users do this and hence very few users achieve the full sonic potential) and protecting the sp...
Denafrips Pontus II Clicks Or Static?
I have been playing my Pontus II with the new FPGA firmware update for about a week now and I can confirm that the random pops/ticks I was experiencing are now absent. This mirrors my experience with upgrading the firmware on my Ares II. So it se...
