Record Cleaning Fluid? @fjn04 - distilled as a rinse is fine. I use reagent grade 1, but I’m a bit anal. The folks at the Culpeper facility (the intake archive for the Library of Congress) told me in an interview that deionized water is sufficient for a rinse. @cleeds -...
Record Cleaning Fluid? As in no surfactant- just plain distilled? Not for the vacuum cleaning system. For the ultrasonic, yes. (a KL, which as far as I know, doesn't contemplate anything more than some grade of purified water).
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning @psag- I have a Monks too (an Omni). If I had to choose one machine, that would be it. But the synergy of cleaning on the Monks and ultrasonic- in both directions-- brings more to the table. Try it.
Looking for the best moving coil cart that is around $5K used Lot’s of people like the Lyra Atlas for its spectacular sound- it is quite dramatic sounding, and i’ve heard it set up in some systems where, in combination with other components, everything was just that much more WOW, without sounding too splash...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning @Alf- That link you provided is almost a horror show of what not to do in my estimation. Using dish soap- sure it will work, getting it off is another matter- I suppose hot water will work but it isn't necessary to use some detergent with a lot of...
I picked up a ROKU, I am wanting to cut the Cable TV cord. @jea48 - well YAY! I'm a genius. :)Not really. Glad you got it working. best, bill
I picked up a ROKU, I am wanting to cut the Cable TV cord. @jea48 - I wish I could give you a magic bullet, given how much help you have been to me and others over the years here on things electrical. I had some earlier Roku units, one smelled like burning plastic when I powered it up, a couple others wor...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning I cannot answer all of your questions, in part because I am not mixing any solution for my ultrasonic for the reason stated above (I use a KL machine right now). One issue I see as a potential hazard is the flash point of isopropyl even diluted, g...
Avatar's not displaying correctly Yep. I'm faceless.
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning @slaw @terry9 I think one of the values of terry’s input is the number of records you can effectively clean in one batch. There is a temptation to stack a bunch of records on a skewer and clean a lot at the same time. As someone upthread pointed o...
Is it possible to have a quiet vinyl records I clean a record thoroughly, and resleeve it in my preferred aftermarket sleeve (keeping the original inner). I also use a thick HDPE outer jacket ’bag,’ so I’m not sliding the resleeved record back into the jacket, but instead between the jacket ...
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning @slaw - a few years ago, I was doing some research for a piece on DIY US (after having owned both the Audio Desk and KL). One of my sources of information was a long time manufacturer of factory line sized ultra sonic cleaning systems. (He didn't ...
Is it possible to have a quiet vinyl records You shouldn’t have that many noisy records. I buy quite a bit- say 15 records a week? Many old copies, some new. Sure, the older ones could have been abused (I try to limit myself to M- grading, but that’s no assurance) and occasionally I’ll get a...
Is it possible to have a quiet vinyl records Certain cartridge and phono stage combinations tend to exacerbate the problem- I don’t know the Ortofon, so others will have to weigh in- I have the Allnic 3000 which I’ve been using for about 5 years and have run Lyras and then Airtight cartridge...
Whole House Mains Wiring -- Ping: Jea48 (Jim) -- & ALL Others for your HELP! @jea48 - the first clip was the one I was referring to but it’s been so long since I’ve watched the film. Myrna Loy was great. |
