A cable too perfect?
@kennyc "I’m still undecided about getting a cable cooker. Many says improvements. Some cook their cables periodically. " is cable cooking recipe included with those? LOL
Hegel hum?
You may try to contact Hegel and explain to their technical support staff this issue..? I would return such amp to manufacturer, if no help etc.. Foot away hum isn’t good, few inches could be okay.. I had many amps, and the only accuphase designs...
ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body
@elliottbnewcombjr +1 thx for cantilever info! have you seen boron material info as well?
ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body
@rauliruegas 160ML at 200 pF loading cap resonates @ 16kHz, while 150Ea at 19kHz (ML180 res. freq. is 23kHz). you might know as there is significant phase deviation in frequencies closer to resonance point. I am tuning my phono-Rx resonances to be...
ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body
@rauliruegas dear Raul, thanks for your response! All I tried to explain was a 160ml requires more attention to phono-cable&pre, and using 160ml stylus in 150e body might will work better in some scenarios.. also, subsonic cut-off filter most ...
ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body
listen jazz, piano, voice etc, or use Ortofon Test Record Vinyl LP if you’d prefer adv. measurements!
ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body
@elliottbnewcombjr you’re welcome! I run those ATs at 1gf without problems, after tonearm maintenance complete..

@southofdallas correct! A48 will be more stable at lower load impedance than P4600, which has higher supply voltage. @lalitk "While the A48s is designed as a Class A amplifier under an 8-ohm resistive load” probably typo, A48 is designed as class...
Technics SL-1200 vs. Scoutmaster
@johnss "I liked the G so much I jumped into the 1000R.” +1 I have SL1200GAE and SP10R in SH5 super-heavy stone body + EPA100MK2 arm.. sp10r studio monster is unbeatable in speed/wow/flutter/bass!
Pass....Accuphase....or......
@southofdallas "How much class-A power does the A-48 deliver before drifting into AB?" Theoretically A48s always will be in class A mode for full power range, using resistive 8 Ohms load.. BUT, :-), speakers are not resistors, loading applied to ...
Mullard EL34 that sounds best
(any) tubes will last longer in gentle usage conditions, lower dissipation power / current / voltage increases ~ 20% spec degradation time point. to figure out how long tubes will last need to check amp design and tubes aging related spec.
ATN160ml Beryllium MicroLine Stylus on AT150e body
@elliottbnewcombjr "would you return it, try to get one with a true AT160 Body?" I have original AT160ML, AT150E/Ea/MLX, and new ATN replacement styluses.. It seems original AT160ML body is earlier development, which used thinner wire, thus resis...

@southofdallas I have A48 and P4500.. A48 is better for mid <50W peak power, very smooth/warm, P4500 is excellent for higher volume sounds <150W, rock etc.. P4500 is basically not different from A48 below 5W power.

I would recommend JJ power tubes https://www.jj-electronic.com/en/power-tubes pro: very stable over long run time Luxman Japan uses those for all noble tube amp designs
Pass....Accuphase....or......
+++++ Accuphase A48 great if not greatest <50W/ch SS A class amp! advantage: no maintenance needed for few decades!  +++++ Luxman MQ-88uC lil less peak power headroom than A48, amazing dynamic range, very low noise floor for tubes, very gentle...
