WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?

What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound?
@curiousjim In my case $120. Audioquest NGR-2 (way back when). Since then, haven’t just drank the KoolAide on PC/power delivery. I chugged the entire pitcher. (I’m the guy who did the "audiophile power cable" survey a few months ago). I’m sure ...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
@calvinj  Yes, music can impact us in ways we may not fully understand. Back in the days when life was chaotic (dumpster fire would have been an upgrade), I found that at the end of the day, music was 100% predictable.  Sit down in the listening...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
@calvinj  We've come a long way from the opening synopsis. Your last comment was an excellent recap of the various conversations.   I couldn't have said it better myself.  No, really, I couldn't have.
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
@calvinj Hope you received the answers/responses related to the topic you were looking for? Thanks to A’Gon moderators for allowing us to get a little "off topic" and keep this discussion going. Probably not going to see too many people change ...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
Some people are desperate to be relevant. They’re latched on to ab element where they have some level of familiarity with a subject and can express the "right" words to appear to have credibility. Being a "giant killer" is the most rewarding for t...
Interesting video on cables
I can’t wait to get my hands on one of those $130 cables and do some performance mods. Better caps. Beefier power supply, etc. The end would be the size of a toaster oven and couldn’t plug into anything, but imagine the possibilities.
Maybe the Journey is Over?........Well......
There’s more at play here (pun intended) than which format can beat up the other format. There are lifestyle changes that happen as well. This includes (but not limited to) how much aging knees appreciate the trips to the rack to manipulate physic...
"I'm a believer"
@bipod72 I can’t disagree with your points. But, I think the key question is: "Did the customer get their money’s worth?" We have to recognize the intangibles in this equation: "owning the best of the best" or at the very least not having your "...
"I'm a believer"
We have to take into account that a manufacturer’s "statement piece" is just that. It is a statement of the capabilities of the manufacturer. This would suggest a "no compromise" approach to EVERY aspect of the speaker in the range of "world class...
Sometimes, things go right with impulse purchases.
The OP made a purchase.  He's happy.  Nice.
I Cried Today
@bigkidz Sorry for your loss. As a servicer of (mostly) vintage audio gear, I can attest to the strong emotional connection between the gear and their owners. I can count, literally, dozens of occasions were grown up adults have been brought to...
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
Years ago, I came across the term "corrective technologies". At the time, it was used in the context of home automation, but the presenter added that we apply "corrective technologies" to many things. Auto mechanics fix things that are poorly engi...
Audiophiles, Music, and Equipment: Can We Be Both "Conservative" AND "Progressive"?
@stuartk Thanks for taking the time to objectively evaluate the context of the topic. This is a special group of individuals with common interests. Your comments are a validation of that.
The Hidden Gem at Capital Audio Fest (CAF) 2023!
@bouncehit  Very interesting.  Thanks for sharing.
