Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
Several things come to mind here: Very good tips on sound isolation/absorption.  Keep in mind that powerful low frequency sound waves are very long and can penetrate feet (yes, FEET) of sound absorption.  But,every bit helps. If you love your Ki...
JL Audio Fathom
@deep_333  An exceptional post.
Best Sounding Adapter - Making RCA into Banana or Spade? Thanks!
@vinylfun  Let me take a shot at your questions: Q1: the tape out is a fixed output, meaning that it does not change with volume.  Yes, it could connect to your sub, but it would be rather tedious to adjust the volume on the sub each time you ad...

Lots of good stuff here. @czarivey That's really cool.  And, yes, keep us posted.
Best Sounding Adapter - Making RCA into Banana or Spade? Thanks!
In my car stereo days, we referred to these genercially as "high-to-low-level adapters".  Speaker level in.  Line level out.  Depending on your level of persnicketiness, you can find these at a variety of price ranges. Another consideration here ...
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks?
Free air?  Heck yeah!! I'll take all the free stuff I can get.
Clean power and it's affect on sound quality
@bipod72  If you shop around you can find solar batteries with much higher capacity than the originals.  I've found these to have much less blooming in the midrange. I also prefer the sound of older wiring, especially when using fuses vs circuit...
AI (Audiogon Intelligence)
I presented Chat GPT with the classic "Beatles vs Stones" question the other day.  Chat GPT is clearly a Stones fan.  I guess I must have pushed a little too hard on my strong Beatles preference and pissed it off. Alexa instructed my Samsung refr...
Do you trust your ears more than measurements?
Measure?  "Yes!" But, I've yet to meet an audio analyzer that ... ... experienced listening fatigue ... got it's power plug tapping when totally engaged and fully resonating with the music ... got misty-eyed when a trailing female vocal is ren...
Visit to Mike Lavigne's house
Beautiful room and system.  Thanks for a peek at one of the world's best examples of "getting it right."
Speaker cable length.
There’s a lot going on inside those cables besides just getting electrical energy from Point A to Point B at a fraction of the speed of light. The insulation (dielectric) is not electrically inert, which is to say that it acts as a capacitor absor...
Cornwall iv
This looks like.a good place to insert my "Frog to Prince" Cornwall story: In 1982, I owned an audio store and had a new out-of-the-area manager infatuated with Klipsch. speakers. The Consumer Electronics Show came around (Chicago) and I agreed t...
Seeking Honest Opinions: Your Experience with McIntosh Audio Gear
The first "real" Hi-Fi system that rocked my audio world was powered by McIntosh. That was 45 years ago. Blue meters were on my bucket list for my home system for the next 40. My interest in audio developed into a career that spanned 40+ years an...
Kids, Dogs, and Speakers
My dog just can't make it thru the extended (album) versions of Free Bird, Layla, Hey Jude, Whole Lotta Love, etc. without grabbing a chew toy, or my stocking feet. Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibilition earns an instant disqualification.  The g...
Absorbing traffic noise with Helmholtz resonators (video)
@hilde45  This certainly falls into the "Gee, I never thought of that!" category. Very interesting.  Much more socially and environmenatlly friendly than tire deflation strips to reduce traffic noise. Thanks for sharing.
