Will audio gear be ok in unheated house
As a dealer. we received shipments from all over the world, 12 months out of the year. I recall unloading trucks during sleet and snow. These shipments were in transit for days from another part of the country, often spending their nights/evenings...
50 ways to leave your lover
"Back in the day" everybody I knew could bang out the complete Ina Gadda De Vida drum solo from memory on ANY object with some percussive attributes: trunk lid, table top and, yes, coolers. I’m not a very good event organizer, but I fantasize abo...
Is it important to long demo or own HIGH END gear to have a fair accurate view about it?
Being dealers didn't make us smarter. We just had a bigger toy box to play in. And, the opportunity the frolic a little longer before someone called a timeout. Sometimes we even got paid to play. Not a bad gig for 40+ years.

Just watched the trailer.  Count me in.
Wilson Audio Duette / Custom Crossover Upgrade
Think I’m going to hop off this thread.  Being a “known associate” has its risks. 😀
REL owners, how many clicks on your gain and crossover
There are tools you can use to precisely calibrate your subwoofer(s). But, here is my take on this: Music is more directional as the frequency increases. And, more omnidirectional as bass decreases. Natural bass notes have harmonics. The deepest...

Most of us "seasoned audiophiles" here have developed pretty sensitive antennas over the years and can do a fairly comprehensive evaluation of a prospective audio component in less time than it takes to do an oil change at Jiffy Lube. But, there’...

My wife and I have made a drinking game out of watching Hallmark movies.  There are key elements and phrases we've memorized that are pretty predictable (and, consistent) and when they happen -- Cheers!!   Yeah, I know, but it beats watching the ...
Help for a Lo-Fi guy
@maico172  "Yamaha separates (M85 amp,C80 pre amp)" Give yourself a little more credit.  These are definitely NOT Lo-Fi pieces.
Happy Holidays and Your Favorite Tips?
Communicate with someone smarter than you every day.  Look forward to being proven wrong.  It means you learned something that day. In my case, this usually happens before breakfast.

Tweak Pink Himalayan Salt Lamps.
"Looking for my lost shaker of salt" ranks among my Top 10 of deeply moving literary moments involving a reference to sodium chloride.  Rest in piece, Mr. Buffet.
Tweak Pink Himalayan Salt Lamps.
As with many suggested audio tweaks, this one needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
Have we lost civility and respect on Audio forums?
The OP’s topic implies that we have “lost” something that was once there.  I’d like to revisit a discussion I introduced awhile back entitled: “Does Anyone Else Remember the Golden Age of Audio Insults and Product Degradation?”  This was a short w...
