Found a Milty Zerostat alternative
Worth trying.  I own a Zerostat that I purchased in the seventies and still works.  I don't know if the new models can do this anymore but when you aim it at a fluorescent light bulb, it will light up, even four foot long bulbs.
How would you spend my next $5K?
Room is the issue for me to add components, but for the money, eh, maybe a bit more, a Naim Uniti with a 20 terabyte drive.  A local dealer that sells it would include his entire library, 16 terabytes of hi def music.  Music of every kind mostly r...
Are You a Swifty?
Wasn't she a country star?  She seems to be a chameleon, whatever the producers want her to be to be a successful commodity.  I thought her outfits on the last tour; a majorette, a playboy bunny in cowboy boots from the movie "Apocalypse Now" look...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
You are just one of the definitions of an audiophile.
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
@audphile1 Why am I thinking of Daffy Duck?
Whats on your turntable tonight?
The just released Kim Gordon's "The Collective", Ozric Tentacles', "Strangetude"(try finding that on vinyl" and the closing scene from "Gotterdammerung "Solti/Vienna from the 1958-65 recording of the complete Ring, that I recently found unopened. ...
The molecular level explanation of "cable burn-in"
So far all I hear is that different insulating materials, because of their dielectric strength affect the current running through them but there is nothing in the literature that I'm familiar with that explains any sort of permanent change, molecu...
Clean power and it's affect on sound quality
@bipod72 , well Happy Birthday, and enjoy some Bourbon, maybe with a BLT sandwich tonight.
Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
It's too bad you don't own the unit to be able to make changes to the floor.  And for the most part not cheap.  I live in a hundred year old space and the floors were changed.  Removing all the wood, then filling the space between the joists with ...
Clean power and it's affect on sound quality
@ellajeanelle Are you talking about a remote control that you hold in your hand? Your post isn’t making sense to me, or did you add that as joke? If you are indeed referring to batteries on handheld remote controls, that is absurd and has absolut...
OCD mickey website and negativity.
@mahgister I did make a mistake. I should have said James Joyce at his most stream-of-conscious best!  Read Ulysses twice.  Still have a hard time with it.  Who am I to argue with one of the greatest authors?  Maybe Infinite Jest is the better ana...
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks?
@erik_squires And here I thought that you had an elegant approach to this and not @mahgister sandbags and whatever approach to audio.
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks?
@erik_squires Why not put some photos on your details page of these tweaks.  Just to get a better idea of how they look.
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
Well, @lewm is partly right.  I haven't heard a real tonearm comparison in thirty-five-plus years.  Back then there were dealers, mainly Linn who might have as many as three LP12s with three different arms and a Supex 900 Super on all of them.  Bu...
What's up with the price of Vintage equipment?
So I was in Des Moines Iowa a few weeks back taking care of funeral arrangements for a relative.  While there I stopped into a place called Skylabs Audio in a kind of eclectic shopping area in Valley Junction, a vintage audio dealer.  The owner ma...
