Can the AVM 6.2 or Pass INT-60 replace my LM845P? The 8.3 will be sweeter. You will get a flavor for the sound but it will sound more tube-like than the 6.2 ME. I had the 8.3 monos here and they could be mistaken for a KT88 based amp. Not sure the 6.2 ME is quite that nice.
Can the AVM 6.2 or Pass INT-60 replace my LM845P? This is a tough one. I have a customer who is grappling with this now on a pair of Tekton Ulfberht's. Interestingly he has a pair of Cary 845s and 845s are my favorite tube as the Art Audio Quartets are my all-time favorite amps. The reality is...
Streamer/Server to replace Innuos Zenith This is so open and so many option exist it is tough to offer a firm direction. What you do really depends on the DAC or whether you go DAC only (Chord), DAC & Renderer (Bricasti) or DAC & Streamer (Naim) First question is are you happ...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend Today I had a visit from Peter and Karl of Vu Jade. The brought their DAC 100 which retails for $12K and is a two chassis tube DAC. They also offer a single chassis, delta-sigma DAC using 6SN7s and is one I am looking forward to hearing. After ...
Is it worth it to add a music server just for FLAC files? I have found servers make an enormous difference. Usually a little less for local files but much more for streaming. Getting control over things coming in from a very volatile internet is big and the processing power their matters. Though I did...
Recommendations and thoughts for end game speakers and amps The OP said he was looking for cables that are more reasonable than $15K. since this is an all-in-one solution, the only cables really are speaker and maybe a power cable so that was my inference. Could be wrong. You are right, those are $5-$7K. ...
Recommendations and thoughts for end game speakers and amps @tvad Compared to $15K....$5-$7k is quite reasonable. That being said, no dealer (I am an AQ authorised dealer) can or should post discounted pricing in a forum. That is a violation of the MAP. @ronboco If you stick with the Boulder and DAC, ...
Recommendations and thoughts for end game speakers and amps I don't think that you will get a lot more energy in the highs from the amplification. Not sure how that DAC is. Are you looking for an all-in-one exclusively? Do you need internal DAC and streamer? How big is your room. I am thinking the Ay...
Recommendations and thoughts for end game speakers and amps Rockports are incredible. There is nothing wrong with them as end-game speakers. Boulder is brilliant with them. I might also look at Constellation, Soulution and D'Agastino, but Boulder is safe and it is unlikely you will be disapointed. There ...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend I used to own the DSD. I definitely know how to update the firmware. Will do. I think Aqua is an interesting brand. I have take a few units on trade but have not heard one as I sold them to other retailers. If anyone is in NYC metro and wants...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @yyzsantabarbara I am sorry to hear that you are having issues. Let me know how I can help. The Weiss is the first device I have had that has on-board room correction other than AVRs and Pre/Pros. It is easily bypassed.
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @jjss49 very interested in your perspective. @redwoodaudio I will reach out to Lampizator and see if they will send me a demo. @kren006 Here you go:Rockna Wavedream Signature SE - $12K, XLR - $17K)Bricasti M1 SE - $10K, $11K with optional netwo...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @treebeard1 I have a PS Audio DSD Sr coming in toward the end of next week. I took it on trade today. I will add it as a point of comparison.
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend Next Update - Weiss 501 vs. Bricasti M1 SE vs Rockna Wavedream SignatureI would start off by saying this is in essence, no compromise space. All three of these are elite. They are clear. They have incredible separation between instruments and a...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @melm I started this whole thread because it recently occurred to me how much compromise there actually is at this ~$5K level of DAC. The reality is (and I will offer a POV on the Hugo 2 and AVM along with a Wyred4Sound DAC that is coming in) the... |
