What Monitors would you pick for my new office (bookshelf) >> Have you looked at the Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand. New, at the high end of your stretch budget but that are front ported and well suited to your application.
Can (or should) you “Reclock” a Bluesound Node? Re-clocking outght to help. I know turning the clock off on the Node will have a strong positive impact. I am about to start experimenting with the Audiobyte HUB (fingers crossed soon I hope) and the Antipodes S20 but have no POV on specific rec...
Preamp Opinion I like Rogue's sound a lot. The RP1 is a nice preamp. You will not need new tubes for a LONG time if you replace them once and that is not an expensive unit to get tubes for. Don't be afraid of tubes.
warming up the system Warm up for an AB amp is usually 20-40 minutes. For a Class A amp, it can be much longer. My experience is tube amps usually warm quicker due to the direct heated nature of most triodes. I find my amps are warmed after about 20 minutes. It is ...
What do you think is the best power-amp between B&W speakers and Chord DAVE I would avoid Chord and Bryston. They definitely are to the brighter side of neutral. Neither is viciously bright but the Chord Dave is forward as are the B&W speakers. On your list, Pass is much better than the Parasound and will deliver a...
Perlisten S4b and D12s in house @roxy54 I agree that the drivers look like Rockports but evidently they are not. Perlisten states that all the drivers are custom made for them so there is some difference.
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend Khadas Tone 2 - This is a $210 DAC on Amazon with an onboard headphone amp. In what might be a test of the two tiniest external components in the history of audio, this paired with the 2Go/2Yu is amazing. The Tone2 is about 3" wide by about 2" D...
Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs? So...I moved from Infinty Kappa 8.1s to Revel Performa 3 M105 with a Sunfire sub almost 10 years ago. The Infinity’s were a miserable load with a min 1.7ohm impedance and were hard to place. Not to mention, a bit bright with the EMIT-R Super tweet...
Bricasti M5 or Lumin U1 Mini or ? I am a big fan of the M5. It is built like a tank and is just a superb roon end-point. I have a few customers using this and it is at its very best when connected via AES or Digital Coax. An interesting alternative that is very good is the Chor...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend Questyle CMA 12 is in and has been tested. This is the least expensive unit tested so far other than the internal DAC of the AVM. This is an extremely impressive unit for the money if you ignore the headphone amp. With the headphone amp and ove...
Best DAC? There is a huge tradeoff between DACs in this price class in terms of soundstage vs. detail. It really depends on what you want and what you prioritize. I have been doing a boatload of DAC testing recently and I would put the Rockna Wavelight an...
LSA Voyager GAN 350 versus Merrill Audio Element Amps or AGD Grand Vivace and Vivace Amps I have not done a compare but I do know one thing, AGD is the only company using GAN Modules that are specifically designed for audio. Even Merrill's are repurposed. It may not make a difference ultimately (as I said, I have not done a direct com...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend I had an interesting conversation last night on the topic of "accuracy" with a gentleman who is both and audiophile and a professional musician. When discussing the concept of "accuracy" his concern is tonal exclusively. Does the instrument sound ...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @david_ten This is tough in that I don't have a Holo May and will not comment on that exact product. But I do understand your point. There are a few other brands I can think of (that will remain unnamed) that deliver experience over accuracy. ...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @in_shore Thank you for that compare. That is super helpful!I just finished testing the Rockna Wavedream Edition. This happened to be the SE but the only difference between the SE and the XLR is a fully balanced (and therefore double) circuit. ... |
