Anybody heard the new Meadowlark Swifts? Heard them briefly at the show. I liked them, my friends liked them more. Seemed like a good value. I thought the bass was behind (in time and pitch) the rest of the sound. I know that they are designed to be time aligned, it just didn't sound tha...
Dunlavy SC-IV vs. Aerial 10T characteristics Porschecab, I too like the Dunlavy's very much. Dunlavy makes a center channel to match. Unless you often use software with a dedicated center channel, I don't think you'll need one. As much as the driver array is veriticaly symetrical for the lis...
Neutral preamps I don't know about the most neutral but, I think the Sonic Fontiers Line 3 is amongst the most neutral tube pre-amps.
Solid state amps under 1000 I think a Forte 4A would work very nicely with your Spica TC-60's. You might even be able to afford two and bi-amp. They are no longer in business, so parts and service may be an issue.
Which SPEAKER for the 21ST century? TacT might be the most ambitious all digital design.
Dunlavy SC-IV vs. Aerial 10T characteristics Whknopp, I agree with you almost word for word. I found the Dunlavys more coherent. I could live with any of them despite their differences. They all have srong suits with out gross sacrafices. I have my prejudices, and as such given the choice I'...
Which very dynamic speakers would you recommend? I don't have personal experience with them but I'd guess Klipsch would suit the bill.
Dunlavy SC-IV vs. Aerial 10T characteristics I heard the Aletha's on the same day as the SClV's. I felt they were more tactile but less coherent than the SClV's. Aletha's might have a higher WAF.
Duntech What do they cost today?
Which preamps if any combine all these features? Good luck.
Maggie choices help My opinion is not nearly as worthy as the rest. I have never owned Maggies. With that said, I have always thought every incarnation of the "3" series to be the most compelling.
Single brand vs. multiple brand ICs and ACs Perfectimage, is right on. Unless you have unlimited access: (1)to a variety of cables and (2) time to compare and (3) keep copius records, it can become unwieldly. Of course there always exceptions such as having someone you know and trust with e...
shielded cables & IC's or not? Of course, you should try both. The fact that you live in a large city may(?) make "shielded" a better option. Do you live in a private house or a multi-dwelling? When I lived in apartments in New York City, shielded cables always seemed to work b...
Dunlavy SC-IV vs. Aerial 10T characteristics Please take this with a grain of salt. I auditoned these on the same day in different rooms with different electronics. My impression was that the Aerials were more dynamic and the Dunlavys more coherent. The soundstage of the Aerials was more gou...
pure class A? Sean, your the man. I've read numerous descriptions on the differences of "class", but yours is the most lucid and succint yet. Thanks. |
