Buying and Selling of feedback
I hadn't thought about this before. I think Dozer is right on. There is a "neutral" feed back. Perhaps this is the proper vehicle when a "negative" feed back may seem harsh due to extenuating circumstances. The use of the "neutral" feedback may ke...
Maggies or Martin Logans?
I really like both of these. I prefer the Martin Logans sans cone, but then they can be hard to drive become a bit bright and glassy and of course leave some thing to be desired in the bass region. But my oh my can they sound transparent and coher...
Is there any way I can bench test speakers?
Twl is right on. A Db meter can help. Bear in mind that unless you are in an anechoic chamber all measurements will be askew.

Music to test with:
Nrchy, your point is well taken, but in the end most classical music will be a purer source as the same argument can be made re: music that has electronicly manipulated and then performed in a given space. I don't believe any one is trying to sugg...
DVD-A Question
RETRACTION!!! I erroneously posted that "some players will out put DVD A 24/96". Should have read as some players will out put DAD 24/96. I apologize for any harm this may have caused.
DVD-A Question
Reprince, I believe some players will out-put DVD A 24/96 but I'm not aware of any players that will out put DVD Audio 24/192, yet .

I think Buckingham is right on. That doesn't mean you can't become familiar with other recommendations. Fair warning, too much testing with your favorite music may make your favorite music less favorable.
How do I start?
If you stick with a 2 channel system (my recommendation) you may be able to afford seperates up front( there are some nice value pieces advertised right here on Audiogon). Perhaps an intergrated amp as a compromise. You seem to be planning a long ...
Why are you listening to that? ?
There may be a few different things happening when choosing a recording. One may be trying to escape the present by being transported to a different venue. One may be trying to get to the essence of a recording. One may be trying to embrace themse...
To all SELLERS, Pls mark your items as pending or-
Offers don't mean pending. Pending means terms have been agreed upon. And pending doesn't mean further offers can't be catalogued should there be dissolution of a contract. Pending might also mean a replies to further offers isn't necessasry. What...
Why is Shahinian not more popular
I think they are very room sensitive. Every time I've heard them they sounded different, even with the same equipment. Often they sound stage was scattered, even Bose like. Sometimes it wasn't so diffused . Sometimes they exhibited a lumpy bass. S...
How do I start?
At the risk of appearing mercenary, I have some nice pieces that would fit into your budget. All designed to work together. A step up from what your considering. I have moved into bigger quarters and really need a bigger rig. If your interested e-...
Review: Acurus A-100 Amplifier
Gee, I've heard this amp on a couple of occassions, only briefly with I don't remember what attached, and left on every occasion thinking good solid state value, but I couldn't live with the chalky, dry top end. To each his own.
Thiel 3.6 vs. Dunlavy SC-IV/A
Pbb, I have always set up my Thiels along the long wall. To my ears the Thiels like the Dunlavys sound best this way. Of course everyones room and circumstances differ. The key issues are space from side and rear walls and distance between speaker...
