Suggestions for Direct TV w/ hard drive Thankyou Mrpoindexter, I awkwardly suggested that for the time being I'm not interested in HIgh Def for the reasons you outlined. Do you prefer Tivo to the others and which particular components should I search out. Thanks again.
Describe The Listening Room of Your Dreams... Thanks Chilidog, I thought it would be either extremely good or extremely bad. The thought of zero parallel surfaces, equilateral bass boost and and the idea that the room would not give biased refelective surfaces to bring attention to speaker pl...
Monitor speakers pros/cons I don't have much experience with HT, so take this with a grain of salt. Monitors add the expense of stands, usually loose bass response for the same amount of floor space, need sub woofer(s) (my experience is that two are much better than one) an...
Acurus DIA 100 questions I have never owned this piece, but have heard it in a number of systems, though I can't remember the other components. My recollection was that you should be carefull to avoid anything with a rough midrange through treble. The plus, was an amazing...
Describe The Listening Room of Your Dreams... I have often wondered what a very large sphere shaped room with a minimal open cell like floor that permitted one to sit with his ears in the exact center of the room would sound like.
Suggestions for Direct TV w/ hard drive Hello, anybody out there? Someone must have some experience with Direct TV and the various options. Football and basketball are coming and I don't want to be left out. The music stations are interesting as well. Please, any help at all would be gr...
Cable vs. Electronics: biggest bang for the buck My brain instantly reacts with "Electronics" but on further reflection I can recall many instances where cables made a bigger difference (for better or worse) than electronics. I think Sean hit upon something. Is the question being asked of someon...
indoor antenna? Ask your neighbors. If they can't help you, I'd suggest you break down and get cable or better yet fight for your rights and get a dish.
Matching Royd Speakers Change the name of those speakers!
indoor antenna? P.S. you may have the legal right to an antenna despite your buildings objections.
indoor antenna? When I lived in NYC and inquired about FM via cable TV (Time Warner)I was told that it was "discontinued because they never got it to work right". I used a "Silver Ribbon" with some success. It had to be reoriented for different stations. I suppos...
Best Dual purpose HT and Music speakers 10k If your primary interest is music I'd suggest the biggest Dunlavy's you can afford. If your primary interest is HT I'd suggest Aerial 10T's.
Better B&K amp? The EX 442 is the better amp. It can handle lower impedance loads better, has better stereo seperation and it's DC coupling should improve upon the mushy bass response of the lesser B&K amps.
Mixing SS and Tubes Tbg, I'm not sure if your question was addressed to me or not. Many speakers have impedance loads or power requirements that are challenging to many tube amplifiers. I agree with you that the impedance matching of tubes to solid state can be an is...
Mixing SS and Tubes I can't help but think your speakers will have a lot to do with your ultimate success. Using tube amps tends to be the more expensive alternative. |
