Time coherence - how important and what speakers?
I don't have the means or ability to test my listening impressions. With that said, I have found the sweet spot of low impedance speakers to be wider in the horizontal plane and narrower in the veritcal plane. Despite the fact that my mother used ...
What McIntosh Amp With Thiel 3.6 Speakers?
Zaikesman, at the risk of being the victim of your wit for repeated offense, I belive the word eratic was used in the less frequently used sense of deviating from standard. Your point is well made and I'm sure you clarified this too many who other...
Time coherence - how important and what speakers?
Now we're getting somewhere. Designers sharing the merits and compromises they have to deal with in a decorous forum. As I have previously stated, I am consistently attracted to time coherent designs. How ever, the thought of lobing effects have c...
Long wall vs, short wall
Pbb, I happen to like both these speakers and especially the Dunlavy's. I think both speakers would prefer the long wall but the Thiels might be more forgiving of the short wall. Are you sure you can't get the Dunlavy's along the long wall?

Can you cancel an auction?
I don't know where Audiogon stands on this. There can be good reasons to cancel an auction. Something may have happened to the auctioned piece that changes it's original description/value. Removing a piece from auction because it was sold elsewher...

How do YOU justify this hobby?
Funny, I never had to justify it. People who have visted my home have made comments such as "that stuff sure looks expensive but you obviously derive much pleasure from it , it must be worth it to you", "I have to admit, it sure does sound good" a...
Best of the Classe amp line??? 200/201 - 400/401?
For what ever it's worth I like the the Rowland followed by the older DR series Classe amps.
Tubes Do It -- Transistors Don't.
Detlof, this Tarrot card character appears analogus to the foolish child who said "the Emperor has no clothes".
Time coherence - how important and what speakers?
Ozfly, at the risk of appearing petty, Joseph still couldn'tknow how many of the audiophiles who voted for his product were "seasoned". Ironic that Joseph finds time coherent fans proccupied with cross overs when thats probably the area which sets...
Anyone hear Thiel CS1.6?
Tweekerman, the net savings could be spent on stands, the net result even less bass output.
Tubes Do It -- Transistors Don't.
I don't want to get too deep into this...The the point of science is the endeavor to understand nature empericaly. The very nature of science requires one to let go of the whole in order to grasp the particulars. The mystical appraoach requires on...
The Best Amplifier Ever ?
Basement I agree with you up to the last two sentences.
