Warranties - Best & Worst - New & Used Golden ears, suffice to say I couldn't disagree with you more.
Low-Fi Experience Slappy, great thread! I am in complete agreement with Albert and Zaikesman. It's amazing what improvements can be gained by turning off those miserable built in TV speakers and replacing them with a really modest little amp and properly placed ine...
Need help with Spica TC-50 / Kinergetics setup I noticed that you posted that one speaker is the same distance from the back wall as it is from the side wall. Am I correct to assume that your speakers are not set up from the center of a wall, and the speakers have different distances from rear...
What causes clipping? While I certainly don't want to contradict Eldulcesol's first hand experience. I think it prudent to warn you that the Spicas are not full range or "large" and are not know for durability, original replacement parts may be hard to come by and matc...
Warranties - Best & Worst - New & Used Thiel, 10 year warranty, unbelievably good customer service! The best customer service I've ever experienced from any manufacturer or service provider in any(!) business, bar none! I have enjoyed good customer service from Conrad-Johnson and B&...
comments/questions/ suggestions for Agon Perhaps Audiogon could put some kind of logo next to those posters who are in the business. Recently I got into a bit of flack with a dealer whom had previously and most graciously offered me an audition on a pair of speakers he knew quite well we...
Denon 2900 + DAC or 5900? The only thing that interested me in the 5900 over the lesser models was it's HDCD capability. For a lot less money one could add an outbaord DAC with that ability to one of the lesser models.
Meadowlar Osprey...How does it sound??? Zaikesman, I think on some level you might be right about the dynamic limitations of 1st order crossovers, especially compared to something like the Wilsons. On the other hand the 2.2's are hardly in the same price range of the Wilsons. Comparing ...
What causes clipping? Eldartford has a good point. Have you checked the cables and especially the connections?
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? I have fond memories of "The Saint", fonder memories of the beautifull Volvo (had a few friends, that each a few of them), but the fondest memories were of Dianna Riggs in those clingy outfits.
What causes clipping? While I suspect the Kinergetics needs to be seen by a tech. In your previous thread you indicated that your room is 15 x 15. I'm guessing that your ceiling is probably 8' high. Ouch, that the largest dimension is only 15' limits bass response. Tho...
Need help with Spica TC-50 / Kinergetics setup I think you have an old, but, realy nice little music system there. In that regard I would suggest a better amp for the Spicas. Neither the Spicas or the Kinergetics was really designed for home theatre. The Kinergetics was intended to augment spe...
Guilty Pleasures O.K., I admit it, on rare occasions I'll play Micheal Jackson's Thriller. My friends would cringe, but, I think it's just well done pop. I've been getting a bit crap lately for playing Sam Cooke?
Stereophile confirms new gear is getting worse.... Ultraviolet now it is my turn to clarify myself. My comment was in regard to the way a tool is used. A photographs intention may be to make an exact duplicate of an item, such as a photo copy of a document. A phonographs intention may be to make a...
Stereophile confirms new gear is getting worse.... Ultraviolet, your referernce to photography is misplaced. When a photographer proactively adjusts the medium to reflect a perspective he is behaving in much like a rapper scratching a turntable. It's no longer an issue of fideltiy, but one of expr... |
