Tube777, I should mention that I don't remember having ever heard the Belles, and I happen to be a big fan of the Bryston 3BST. Other's here on Audiogon have raised questions regarding its ability to deliver into low impedance loads. I can't comme...
How to set the Dunlavy SC-IV signature correctly
Some random quotes for your specific needs from Dunlavy's old web site: "Loudspeakers should be located along a wall facing the shortest dimension of the room for most accurate reproduction of bass". "It is usually best if the distance of a loudsp...

Tube777, ironicaly I agree. I have found that the laid back nature of the Vandersteens seem to compliment the fowardness of the McCormack. The forwardness of the McCormack would also be subdued by the tube c-j. Never the less, I respect your opini...

Rushton, no apologies necessary.
Speakers that accurately reproduce a drumset
I can't help but think getting recordings that accurately reproduces drums is probably a bigger challange. That said the Wilsons with the right amps in the right room might do it.

Rushton, I think you meant to address this to Tube7777 ?
Thiel Cs 3.6. Outdated?
The 3.6's are still be being made. A new 3 series is rumoured to be in the works. Some people claim that Thiel's older works (the 3.6's probably being the last) with individual instead of concentric drivers were/are his best. The 3.6's may be avai...

Tube777, I'm not trying to argue with your opinion, but, I'm curious, exactly what "was a bit too much"?
Pre-Amp for Parasound JC-1
Perhaps a Sonic Frontiers Line 3.

Hope you don't mind a suggestion that is outside your list. I think the McCormacks are a perfect match with Vandersteens and a near perfect match with c-j. The high input impedance of the McCormack presents a kind load to tubes, though, the high s...
Essay bashing Primedia, Stereophile - and Audiogon
You gotta love these guys who have most of their "reference systems" gratis from long term loans complaining about sucker audiophiles trying to get the best value for their money by working amongst themselves and cheating reviewers and a fabrictat...
Imaging and soundstage
My minimal experience echoes (Ha!) Rives suggestion. Interesting, with out any previous knowledge of Stehno's recommendation, I found my speakers to be with in 3" of his guidelines at the longest length and dead on with regard to the two others.
Is solid state on the brink of extinction?
Khrys, electricity has replaced the winding and the megaphone. For a romantic evening, I'll take the candles and fire. If I had to choose one or the other on a day to day basis, I'll take the space heater and the incandescents.
Is solid state on the brink of extinction?
Seantaylor99, electricity seems so have replaced winding megaphone-ographs. Somethings just take more time than others.
True Fully Balanced Amplifiers
Zaikesman, I could be wrong about this, but, I believe Pass uses one sigle ended push and one single ended pull per channel, to provide "symmetrical" single ended balanced designs. Does seem like an oxymoron, doesn't it?
