Conrad Johnson, Krell, Creek integrated amp??
What speakers will it drive, how large a room will the speakers be in, what volume levels are you seeking, what sound qualities are most important to you?
Dunlavy SCIV - What amp are you using?
I had a close friend use a pair of B&K M200's running his SCIV's with nice results. When he added another factory matched pair of B&K M 200's I couldn't believe the improvement. In my conversations with John Dunlavy he recommended amps from...
what is honey colored? examples?
Classic old c-j's.
Class D amps w/ digital inputs?
Mapman, you might want to look here:https://www.tactlab.com/tact_webshop/TacT offers a few different products that can be configured in different ways.
Class D amps w/ digital inputs?
Thank you all for your responses. Ballan, thank you, no, I'm not making that assumption.I'm really looking for a power amplifier with digital inputs capable of outputting 500 Watts @4 Ohms.
Sealed vs Ported Subwoofers
IMHO, ported designs off better value, but ultimately sealed designs off better performance. I also question whether ported designs can ever be time and phase coherent.
Thiel CS 2 2 vs Snell C IV
FWIW, I prefer the Thiels over the Snells.
pro's and con's of a 4 ohm speaker?
I my opinion, the best way to go; is to buy amps for speakers, not speakers for amps.
Used amplifier/preamp combo for $2,000-$3,000
For what speakers, in what kind of room, how much volume are you wanting?
What is the point of point source?
Perhaps it might be better to consider a point source as the starting point rather than as a tiny narrrow beam? Though somewhat unusual, perhaps the Quad ESL's might be a good example of what I'm trying to express.
Is this clipping?
Those three things are usually delivered hand in hand in hand these days. You might be right: the "so what?" attitude could be Yin and the recordings could be Yang.
Is this clipping?
Psag, Do you really think that these releases are the "artist's vision"? I suspect it is more often due to these releases being driven by record labels pressuring recording engineers to make hot recordings that will grab the attention of potential...
Negative Feedback a deal killer?
No problem.:-)
Is this clipping?
Psag, while that might be true for some systems, why do those recordings sound so damn bad on systems that can handle dynamic range. They're supposed to suck?!
Negative Feedback a deal killer?
H2O, no apologies necessary. We might be new to you, but you're not new to us. Don't underestimate yourself, we don't. Again, welcome!
