You were right about adding a sub.
Slaw, My room is 14x18, with the 18' area opening into a foyer/dining room about 14' deep. The room has carpet, heavy drapes, etc. Aside from the opening to the rear, it is open to the kitchen adjacent to the left speaker. I have no specific room t...

Slaw,My integrated doesn't have a pre out and amp in. Only pre out. I'm thinking I can use the RCA inputs on the sub if I place the sub between the preamp and amp. With my current setup I don't know another way to cut the low frequencies from my ma...

Slaw, good feedback, thanks. With my current setup I can't cut freqs using line level inputs. I own a preamp and tube monos that would let me try it out- at some point I'll switch the gear around. Are you cutting low freqs to your Ushers, or runnin...

Bondmap,What a great feeling! I'm loving it but feel like the right sub would give me a little more mid bass definition and taughtness. I own a dspeaker sub processor that may help but it's still in my home theater setup. Can't use it with the spe...

Bdp24,I assume the capacitor would be installed inside the Integrated, since my unit has no 'amplifier in' jacks. I do have pre out jacks, fwiw. Unfortunately, my modding skills are um...well... I don't have any! I do need to learn different ways ...

I appreciate everyone's comments. The Sound Cylinder sounds pretty good in the blend- but I'm still dialing it in.My aging Mirage dual 8" sub sounds great in my bedroom system. I've been reading up on subs designed primarily for music and I'm like...

Bdp24, no offense taken. What sub do you recommend? I've read about Rel but never heard one personally. Srosenberg, I'll check the article out. I don't have a way to move the sub closer without losing the ability to cut frequencies from the mains....
________ is an artist I did not expect to like but was pleasantly surprised.
I somehow ended up with a Moby disc titled 'b sides and rarities' - I'll give it a whirl.Looking forward to trying some of the artists on this thread. Thanks for starting it!
2.0 Stereo speakers on a $2000 budget?
Nadamp,You have been given some good options, although somewhat diverse. I've owned Vandersteens, Magnepans, and Silverline. My advice is take your time and balance your risk/reward. Audition speakers in your room with your gear if possible- prefe...

I've read good things about your new speakers, What Hi-fi? has been a fan for sometime. Sounds like you made a good choice. Kind regards, gary

How long have you had the Bronze? I'm far from an expert, but here's my humble opinion:Give them time to settle in with your Rega gear. Play with positioning of the speakers, etc. There will always be something else better with more this or that. ...

I commented above on the Monitor Audio Silver 5i - but I rotate them with Silverline Minuets. Crazy coincidence...The Minuets sound great, but different than the 5i. I can explain why I like the 5i, but not the Silverlines. The Silverlines just so...

I have Silver 5i in my bedroom system, they have a very good sound. They hold their own in my opinion. Very clear and detailed with my modest gear.I bought them used for a few hundred, fwiw.
Anthem 225 verses B&K EX 4420 and PT 3
I haven't heard the others, but replaced seperates with the Anthem. Plenty of power for my mid efficiency speakers. I can see how 'dry' may be used to describe the sound, but I find it pretty balanced and neutral. I use mine with tone controls byp...
Shopping for an integrated, advice s'il vous plait.
I own the Anthem 225i, and like it but have not listened to a lot of the competition.Bought it to simplify my setup. Not all the latest bells and whistles, but I listen with the balance centered and tone controls bypassed. The phono stage sounds f...
