Next up: the incomparable Rachel Podger in the collection Perla Barocca.  This has a SACD layer if your player can handle it.  I'm kind of obsessed with Bertali's Chiacona, don't know how many times I've listened to it over the years.

Digital storage is not the issue.  It's turning the digital data into music.  The "A" in DAC.  Here timing is a big issue--how accurately, from a timing point of view, the converter is running.
Amp recommendation for Vandersteen Treo CT
I heard the Ayre AX-7e driving the Vienna Acoustics Liszt without breaking a sweat.  Then they put on the AX-5 (not Twenty) and of course it was better.  Stacked Belles Aria preamp and stereo amp are no larger than a Luxman integrated.

Embarking on a new plan to listen through my collection of Stylus Phantasticus recordings.  First up was Romanesca's appropriately entitled Phantasticus. Love how deep the theorbo goes, and Andrew Manze is one of my favorite period violinists.  An...
Caveat about the Cable Company return policy
Yup.  I bought a component from them last year with a very clearly and explicitly return policy attached to it, and when I went to return it well within the return policy they squirmed and squirmed trying to get out of it but eventually had to acc...

VALENTYNE SUITE COLOSSEUM 21st July 21st 1969
Valentyne is great. The other classic albums are Those who are about to die, salute you (also 1969) and Daughter of Time (1970).  To which we can add Colosseum Love (1971).  That's the heart of the original output.

You guys inspired me to pull out the Schumann.  I have the Sawallisch set on EMI.  The recording is excellent, with a nice deep (and distant) soundstage.  How much am I missing compared to Masur or Thielemann?
Harbeth Super HL 5 Plus room size?
https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/harbeth-monitor-40-2.25222/ Check out this guy for 40.2's in a small room.  Scroll down (and down and down) for photos of room and acoustic treatment of walls.

@stevenyc Hi.  Imagine a curtain hung vertically from the ceiling of your listening room down to the floor (like theatre curtains on a stage), at a certain distance from your listening chair.  If when it hangs down it just touches the front of yo...
Isoacoustics Gaia ll footers plus carpet spikes
So if you had large speakers that nevertheless were still standmounts, where do the Gaias go?  Between the speaker and the stand, or stand and floor.  If the latter, how do you couple/decouple the speaker/stand interface?

I need a push
There's more commentary on the Spatial brand over on audiocircle.  I would check there.

@stevenyc  In your room, where would you say the front and back planes of the soundstage lie w.r.t. the plane of the drivers in the speakers.
