Yes, I've looked at the Troels GravesEn "Poor Man's Stradivari" more than once.  Anyone on here build or own one of his designs?
Any Love For Bryston Here?
My impression is that Bryston has the reputation of producing very well engineered, neutral amps, the larger models being very powerful and all of which will go the long haul.  But on A'gon whenever anybody asks about, say, Bryston vs. Pass, the P...
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
Last time I was at Command Performance (in Wash DC suburbs) they had both Super Nines and X's on the floor.  Unfortunately I didn't audition either--heard the O93's, Contour 60 and Kanta 2 that day.  The Super Nines were on display at the Capital ...

Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
Lamentably, no one's auditioning the new Spendor Classic 100 (their name for what would otherwise be the SP100 Mk3), because there are so few in dealers' showrooms, because of the current fashion for thin speakers.
Classical Music for Aficionados
I don't understand why music like Schmelzer's Sonatae unarum fidium isn't more popular.  I find it delightful and sometimes really exciting.  Especially in the hands of Andrew Manze and Romanesca.  Looking forward to comparing this recording with ...
Audio Reviewers
Gordon Holt published plenty of critical reviews--that was the whole raison d'etre of the original Stereophile as an outsider mag--no longer the case.  Also: the market is so stuffed with product these days (how many speaker companies are there?, ...

A breathtakingly beautiful recording of various Bertali sonatas, superbly performed by a youngish US based early music ensemble, ACRONYM.They were new to me, but no longer, and I have four more of their CDs in my sights.  BTW, the recording is exc...
VALENTYNE SUITE COLOSSEUM 21st July 21st 1969
My original Colosseum Live LP cover has reddish clear thin plastic record sleeves glued inside the outer cover, with thin foam strips inside the edge of the sleeves to stop the records from sliding out.  This can't have been great for the vinyl...
Buyer is claiming damage that was done by him!
This guy has made out like a bandit.  Frankly, I'm sorry you caved, but I can understand the desire to be rid of the annoyance and just move on.Is there any way that it can be ensured that this guy doesn't do the same to some other unsuspecting se...
Area rug-my dilemna
Everything will make something of a difference.  Not only size of the rug, but its thickness, material it's made of, whether you have a rug pad underneath, and position in the room vis-a-vis speakers, walls and listener. This opens up a whole new a...
Recommendations for Vintage Speakers
Budget?  How vintage is vintage? Some original B&W 801's?
Buyer is claiming damage that was done by him!
Even if ONE SIDE opened up somehow, how could the speakers still bump against each other (as the other side was still closed)? The story doesn’t hold water, whereas the grills idea is entirely plausible.  Also, if there is no outside damage to the...

Antonio Bertali, "Sonate Festive", performed by Musica Fiata. The usual smallish Baroque ensemble (violins, continuo, etc.) is supplemented here by trombones, bass trombone, and dulcian, and the range of sonorities on this disk is remarkable.
Equipment Rack Between Speakers...Good or Bad
I got a pair of GIK Freestand panels (gobos). Experimenting with positioning was interesting.  Least effective was the pair of them standing directly in front of the screen and blocking it.  Much better was having them right beside the screen, eac...
