Classical Music for Aficionados
Listening as I type to Batsashvili’s Chopin/Liszt, recommended here a while ago. Wonderful! Excellent recorded sound and the playing has a kind of inner luminous quality. I like this disc better than her transcriptions CD. It is truly superb!
Integrated amp for Focal Aria 948 speakers? SS or tube
Same set-up 3xBelles w/ PMC Twenty/24 speakers listed at 90 dB sensitivity: I can't turn the preamp much beyond 9 o'clock because it would be too loud, though I suspect the preamp might work optimally if the volume were closer to noon.Focal 948's ...

Advantages of owning equipment from major audio brands vs. boutique shops?
A lot of variables.  Huge companies can be a nightmare dealing with to get a repair done (Sony, Marantz) and will eventually let the serviceability of a component expire.  Also, look at the thread on repairing Esoteric.Small companies may close, b...
Classical Music for Aficionados
Just finished playing through the Schubert sonata disks I own, and evidently different people respond differently to different styles of playing (all of which is doubtless excellent).  Anyway, it allowed me to appreciate even more the Volodos disk...

Amplifier for Focal 936
If you want more bass, 948 is the way to go (over 936) if your room can support it.  But be warned, either Focal will sound different from the Totem.
Best Sounding Bruckner Recordings
I recently ran through the nine symphonies on the main classical music thread (aficionado).  Have a look there.  Chailly has very good sound on the 7th; Giuliani generally is very recommendable.
Speakers or room
1. Large rug?2. Check other recent threads on LS50.
Switched to Ls50 wireless; they sucked the “Life” out of my music
Not many people, including me, will have heard a Symdex, but judging from the age and design I'm guessing it gave you a warmer and more forgiving presentation.  If I were you, I'd go on my local Craig's List and search Spendor - Celestion - Wharfe...

Easily.
Were you naughty or nice? What did Santa bring you! Audio related only please!
Noice chair. But that huge flat circular disk really needs some acoustic isolation.
Are there very good/audiophile blu-ray players?
