Your 5 Fav Rock Concerts
The best one I went to, was Jeff Beck at the Capitol theater is Passaic NJ. He had Mahavishnu John McGlaughlin as the "other" band. At the end, they jammed together. It was awesome.Next best was David Sancious and Tone, at the Fairleigh Dickinson ...
Entry Rega,NAD,Project,MusicHall Catridge question
I agree with David, saving for a better TT is well advised. The Radio Shack "Little Rat" is a low cost, battery powered phono stage that has got some good user reviews considering its low cost. Don't confuse it with a "high-end" unit. It is okay fo...
Is 5.1 Really This Bad?
Careful, Bomarc, you're beginning to sound like me.:^)

Well, the best cartridge at a very low price is the Ortofon X5-MC which is being sold on Audiogon classified as a regular thing for about $115 new. Believe it or not, this is a very good MC cartridge that is competitive with some $600 cartridges, ...
KAB EV-1 External Vacuum Record Cleaning Machine
I haven't used it, but I was thinking about getting one, until I made my own machine. I think it would be just as good as the regular Nitty Gritty, and alot cheaper.
Shelter 901 vs. Dynavector XX-2 or TE Kaitora
Tonnesen, I actually think that the Teres 245 with the OL Silver, and the Shelter 501 is about the perfect combination of the very best performers for the money. If I was to make an upgrade, it would be first to the 255 platter. Then if I were to ...

Well Phasecorrect, you are looking at about a $30 cartridge in the Elan, and about a $45 cartridge in the Elektra. Both very budget MM types. The Sumiko Oyster is about in the middle, price wise, at about $40. They are all what you might call "thr...
VPI 10.5 vs Graham 2.2
Sidssp, you make a very good point. Those test records are designed to be just that. Test records. They have more torturous stuff on them than you will most likely encounter in normal playing. The gauge is to find where your system fails, not to m...
What do you look for when buying a used table?
Make sure that the spindle is not loose in the bearing, and that there is oil in it. Check the tonearm bearings for play. Make sure that the motor holds speed, and that the belt is good. View any modifications with suspicion, until you can verify ...
Why Linear Tracking never took off?
Jody, no I don't know what a table like that would bring these days. I suspect not alot.
Shelter 901 vs. Dynavector XX-2 or TE Kaitora
CP, the Dynavector would sound quite nice on an Ittok, in my opinion. The Ittok is a very good arm, and has great bearings and rigidity. It will have a good match with the Dynavectors. The only knock on the Ittok is that it is a little more colore...
What will 6 feet do, now?
Warren, I have heard somewhere on this forum, that there is a cable renting company, where you can try out different cables for a fee. I think the only way to satisfy yourself on this matter is to try one or two, and see for yourself, without spen...
noise and cj premier 15
I agree that a 10db step up device would be beneficial in this case.
What would a 2a3 based amp. bring to the table?
Aball, I think that amount of power will be fine with a 96db speaker. They must be using PP or parallel 2A3 to get 8 watts.
VdHull MC-10
IMHO, I wouldn't do it. I'd get a new cartridge first.#1 - The MC10 is reduced in price, and selling for about $900 brand new in the UK.#2 - For less than half of the money you would spend on that rebuild, you could get a Denon DL103R, that will p...
