Oracle Delphi II v Linn Axis or vica versa
I think the Oracle would be a better sounding table. The Grace is a little long in the tooth, but if you stick to a higher compliance cartridge, with not alot of weight, you'll be ok. Dynavector cartridges would be good for it.
Biggest Sound in the Littliest Box
ATC actives.
The plight of SACD....
Joe, you gave me a good belly-laugh! As if I had never heard a "state of the Digital art" system!I agree with some posts above that some music is simply not available on analog, and that is a good reason for having a CD player. I tried to use them...
Deja Vu All Over Again
Okay, as long as we're going into the vehicle area, I could really croak, when I think about the 1973 Ducati 750 SS motorcycle that I GAVE away to my buddy when I moved out of Florida. One of only 200 made. It is over $20,000 today. Considered one...
What's up with the new PS Audio Amp?
See the other big argument thread already going on this subject. "Typical McGowan Sound"It's just passed onto page 2 of this section. Huge arguments over this amp, and specification sheet. Don't really see all the big deal about it myself.
Deja Vu All Over Again
Only my record collection. Still not nearly back up to what I had when I sold it all off.
DIY and fiberglass and safety
Well, I'm still alive.Generally, if it's not flying around in the air, and is contained, I don't consider it a problem.
The plight of SACD....
I'm sorry Brian. Sometimes I get a little carried away on this subject. No offense intended.
The plight of SACD....
DTM, try Music Direct on the web. They have tons of albums new. And many new releases, as well as older titles that have been reissued.
The plight of SACD....
Brianmgrarcom, I agree. Not all think that LPs are for them. But the people who are happy with their digital aren't looking for new hi-rez formats. In fact, it seems that there is great opposition to the high-rez stuff on these pages, and one can ...
How do you determine your weakest link?
I definitely agree that as the system gets more "revealing" there is a much lesser "margin of error" in selecting your components. You had better get it right, or you WILL hear about it when you turn it on.This places a much higher dependence on t...
The plight of SACD....
Have fun with 16/44.1.I'm sticking with vinyl. If they can't get digital to sound better than vinyl after 22 years, and they can't get a higher resolution format to do it either, then they ain't gonna do it. Especially if the public isn't buying. ...
What would a 2a3 based amp. bring to the table?
Aball, I looked at the ASL website, and all their 2A3 amps are about 3.2 watts/channel. The only 8 watt amps they have are 300B. The reason I made my comment about it, is because you can't get 8 watts out of a single 2A3 per channel. 8 watts is no...
anybody know a true dual mono passive preamp?
Bent Audio. Transformer dual-mono passive. Very good.
Two Amps One Pair Of Speakers
Well, I'm no EE, but it seems to me that electricity always takes the easiest path. If another amp is connected to the output of the first amp(at the speaker terminals) the speaker has an impedance load of about 8 ohms, and the other amp has an ou...
