Cheap stuff is inside my low-pass filter The box is the shield. No need to do the wires. If you think the wire is cheap, just don't look at the circuit boards. How about trying a real active crossover unit instead? I'd recommend the Marchand tube crossover for under $2k.
Try this simple DIY interconnect cable. Guys, you have to use very small gauge single-conductor wire. 18ga or 20ga is far too large for IC cables. I used 30ga on mine. Ake, 12 ga is totally out of the question. Use 30ga or smaller.
Low end TT vs. Hi end CD Oh Lord! Now because we were magnanimous, we get hit with the "white men can't dance" routine. For somebody who claims to be a "psychic", you certainly have a poor perception about what people will think about your statements.
More plinth questions Yes, Bill. The bearing is easily removed from the plinth for experimentation. It is held in by a single large nut. The plinth can me made any size, shape, or thickness, and there is a dimensional reference on the website for hole size and thicknes...
Best Frank Zappa´s Recordings I like "Overnite Sensation" and "Weasels Ripped my Flesh".Also, "Hot Rats".
Efficient speakers for my 2A3's........ I use Lowthers with my Voigt Pipe cabinets, and they are well known to be one of the preferred speakers for SET gear. It is one of the classic combinations. If you don't make your own cabinets, buying pre-made ones can be expensive. Some Lowther m...
Rega arm mounting question NEWBIE Normally, the base of the arm platform has about a 1" diameter brass tube that is threaded, and goes through the plinth. There is a large nut that screws onto it, and secures it to the table. The cable exists through the bottom. If there are not a...
More plinth questions Okay, it might work. I never used it, so I don't know what it will sound like. I'd still consider drilling cups into the bottom, and loading it with lead shot, and putting a bottom plate on it. The lead shot really makes a difference.
A system under $1k an interesting link I think that was a pretty decent package for everything including a tuner, all together for $1k. Surprising for a media type. I thought the part about the Auricaps was very out of the ordinary for something from outside the audiophile magazines.Go...
Best Live Recordings:Performance and recording Brand X "Livestock". Totally awesome performance and recording. It's almost impossible to believe that these guys are pulling off a performance like this live on stage. It is so quiet in the audience, that you don't even realize it's live, until a...
Low end TT vs. Hi end CD Alex, I've mellowed a bit in my old age. No longer am I bashing it to the depths. I am thankful that some people are again trying turntables, and am more careful with my words now. Or at least I try to be.
Saddended by the death of Maurice Gibb I think their best was "Lonely Days, Lonely Nights".
Low end TT vs. Hi end CD I'm not saying it's high-end, just that is is pretty good for a low cost. I'd still buy a good belt drive TT before I got any direct drive.
VTL Service ?? With all the fine tube amps out there, why would anyone buy one from a company that stiffs its customers? From what I read on this thread, they break down alot, and you can't get decent service, or even reasonable behavior from these VTL folks.Who ...
Spades and Cabasse speaker terminals CP, you can make an adapter fairly easily. Just take a sheet of heavy gauge copper, and cut out a strip, that is "U" shaped to fit on your binding post on one end, and has a hole or "U" shape cutout in the other to match the spade shape on the cab... |
