Where have all the protest songs gone?
Here's my protest song. I think that all the socialist activity being promoted by this government should be made strictly voluntary. That way all the people who want to pay for other people's spending can feel real good about themselves, and the r...
Why aren't all CDs created equally?
Warren, the more revealing your system becomes, the more it reveals the shortcomings in the software. This is one of those "double-edged swords" in that you can hear all of the good stuff in a great recording, but you also can hear all of the medi...
Ok this will be a good thread.
Back in the days when I worked at an audio shop, we used to do a little demonstration for folks, regarding the order of importance in a system. We were a Linn dealer at that time, and Linn was one of the first promoters of the source argument. We t...
"HELP" tired Koetsu
Roni, thanks. My jaw is also on the floor, every time I turn that amp on and listen to it. Lak will be on the vinyl boat soon.
Cartridge recomendation for Rega P25
I think a Dynavector is a good choice, out of the ones you mention.
Rule of thumb for VTA
I use the method of starting level while the cartridge is in the groove. Then I make small up or down adjustments as needed. Raising the VTA will usually accent the high freq, and lowering will usually accent the lows. Small adjustments can make b...
What's your favorite instrument to listen to....
I love the female vocals too.
The Biggest Disappointments in Rock and Roll
Clearly, I have a different perspective on the quality of product in the time periods you mention.I personally think that by 1976-80 rock was already dead, and I could not agree with your "exciting and innovative" description of the stuff you ment...
loading question
Don't know about that particular cartridge, but most MC carts are not that sensitive to capacitance loading. However, the impedance load you've selected is far lower than usual for that cartridge, and I would wonder why it is sounding best at that...
Best Tonearm Upgrades for Linn LP12
If you don't want to change the armboard, then stick with the Linn tonearm upgrades. They will just drop right into your current armboard hole. A good used Ittok would be a nice one for around $400-$450.
"HELP" tired Koetsu
Hi Rockinroni.Yes, I use a Shelter 501 right now, and it's very nice.I have not owned an AT OC-9 personally, but have heard them many times. They are quite a nice cartridge, and have been sort of a cult item for years. Not in the league of the She...
How could High End audio be improved?
Well, Dealers? How about it? It seems you are being named more often than not, as being a big part of this problem. What do you have to say?
Clearaudio "Goldmund". Broken stylus. Fixable?
Take it to your Clearaudio dealer to send in for rebuilding.
How is Wally Tools anti-skate device for JMW?
No idea.I don't have a Wallytractor, nor a JMW.Couldn't even guess how they're doing this to an arm that doesn't have an anti-skate mechanism.
New Scout & MH MM-7 or old Linn Sondek. ?????
Well Thomas. We've heard very clearly that you don't like the Linn turntable. Perhaps you can suggest which of the new turntables that he is considering, that will beat the sound of a used Linn Sondek/Valhalla/Ittok for the same price. $900 - $140...
